Although I think hunter may have a better point.
Hmm, no death wobble here, either.

From way back in post 88. The advice may be old, but it is still sound. There's no reason to be attacking one another. It is the freaking internet. If you see a post that you can't reply to in a friendly and appropriate manner then click on to the next thread. I promise, life is too short to allow yourself to get angry about an internet forum.

(And it really is too bad that I finally registered on this forum just to quote a 4 year old message!)

Not to throw fuel on the fire, and not directed at anyone with a jk.....But while the words could of been chosen a little better, there is alot of truth in this.
Mopar accomplished exactly what they set out to do with the 4 door jk. They captured the trendy soccer mom market that was held by the H2. And the 4 door has become the new trend. And I do wave at jks. The women driving them however do not wave.

Like it or not....
Wranglers sell themselves.
Liberty college aged girls
Patriot college aged males
Grand cherokee families with several kids
Compass over 40 crowd
4 door jk soccer moms.
Each vechile is marketed specifically

I apologize for any inconvenience that I may have cause by my comments, but it is true JK's are marketed for the soccer mom's. I will remove my self from this thread and not return, it's a shame that some people cannot take criticism.

I could've sworn the GC was marketed more to the "soccer mom" market, and that the JKU receives the exact same promotional materials that the JK does along with some push about the extra space that makes it a better overland vehicle (like the larger LR Defenders). But I guess you've got sources of Jeep promotional materials showing otherwise.

Sending the links by PM will be fine. Thanks.
Way to move on to the original topic.

I sure will. It will be this afternoon when she gets home. The GC was aimed at soccer mom's and they held the lion's share of the market for years. Sells started to decline with the introduction of tthe H2 and the toyota FJ Cruiser. The 4 door jk is a good vehicle for outfitters but they are a small consumer base. Soccer moms were a perfect fit. Eye catching colors were added to the paint lineup and etc.

Oh, and for the record...when my son turns 16. I will be getting a jk for myself and he is taking my tj. They do hold alot more stuff.

I for one, am glad they make the 4 door model. The room in these things is amazing and even good for sleeping!

My kids are loving the Jeep wave! I am chastised if I miss one! Sorry to keep my eyes on the traffic!

Agree! I don't believe majority of 4 doors are owned by soccer Moms. I see mostly guys and fair share of gals. We all have our reasons for wanting them, some of us don't even go off to the trails!

I've gotten some odd looks from others when I initiate the wave from my JKU. Then they wave back

I wanted one because I needed the additional room, plus I think they look better than two doors when they're on big tires.

I initially wanted a two-door but after getting stuck in the back of one in 90 degree heat last year (I couldn't get the front seat to flip forward so I could get out...) and viewing the cargo/trunk area, I decided there was no way in hell I was going to be able to live with a vehicle providing such little space in the back seat and cargo area.

The two most important requirements I had of my new vehicle were to comfortably fit four passengers and have a larger trunk area to haul things for work, plus my music gear, which includes a half-stack and quite a large guitar case.

- What if we were going on a trip with friends? We'd not only need a back seat area, but also room for the belongings of four people.

- What about transporting large objects like either a TV or new desk from "IKEA?" Nope, not gonna happen with a two door.

- What about transporting those large displays I have for work? The two-door would never work.

- My wife and I had just been rear-ended in a potentially fatal car wreck. The four door was not only longer, but heavier as well. We both "graduated" from small cars to SUVs. FWIW, both, my wife and I HATE SUVs. I absolutely LOVE my Jeep, and while it's considered an SUV, I just don't view them the same way I view the typical mommy-machine like I view a Chevy Equinox. My wife's 2012 Subaru Forester is the exception. As safe as a Subaru is, I can't help but to really like the Forester a lot. Given it is on the Impreza platform, and while it doesn't drive like my old STi did, it's built on the same architecture, so it's a "light" reminder of the car I lost. As different as the Forester is from an Impreza STi, there are some close similarities in terms of feel. I love the way a Subaru drives and feels.

Anyway, there were just way too many variables for me to consider a two-door after comparing the two-door to the four-door.

I'm proud of you. Sometimes I feel like I'm the first person who ever waved at one. Perhaps they'll pick it up when they see another Wrangler. All I know is that a pretty lady in hers waved to me first on Friday, very ecstatic and it felt great having not initiated.

I, unlike others on this thread, don't mind if you don't wave. Many others share my opinion. All I did was plant a seed.

Im on Long Island I would say in the summer/spring/fall 70% of all jeepers wave back, 90% of all topless jeepers, 2 door, 4 door, cj tj jk etc does not matter. In the winter, hell sometimes I don't even wave. If anyone has a problem with that I don't really care I hate the world in the winter. Need to move down south.

As for 2 doors that don't wave to 4 doors, or cj, tj that don't wave to jk or jku that's kind of stupid. Save the hate for the Toyota's.

A jeep is a Jeep is a Jeep is a Jeep

I started driving a 1965 Jeep that me Dad owned, owned a YJ ,TJ and am on my second JK. Lately in the Fort Worth Eagle Mountain TX area I have been getting more waves from JKs.

I think it may be because I see older guys who are probably former two door jeep owners driving them and reliving the Jeep dream.
I can haul a Kayak, set of golf clubs, camera gear, backpack, camping gear, Girlfriend and two friends with no problem in my JK.

I wave at every jeep but must admit that the days of only a few Jeeps on the road is gone.
I have seen four other JKs at a stop light just Friday. Where I work there were two jeeps in the parking lot when I started. Now there are about ten and mostly JKs.

At least I think they are JKs since they have four doors but I really never paid attention to the letter designation much. To busy having fun in a Jeep.

Oh man now I have to go to work. At least I get to drive a Jeep to work and get a paycheck.

Yesterday I was pulling up to a 3-way stop and another JKU was pulling up to the right of me. He was driving a JKU "Mountain" edition. I waved and he gave me this half-assed, arrogant, "lift-the-head" nod, like he was special. Then as I started turning right, he looked my Jeep up and down and then started waving in approval. Dunno if it's because he saw it was a Rubicon or because I had mud caked up on the side of it.

So lemme get this straight...I wasn't good enough to wave at before he saw the mud caked up all over the sides of it (and it's not even that much...)? Nevermind his "Mountain" was squeaky-clean.
