Nothing new. I've had the LJ for about 1.5 months, wave at each JK I see, but never got a wave back from a JK until yesterday. A lot of JK owners just don't know what the Jeep community is all about. No one ever told them about the wave. So how can we help? Keep waving at every JK you see. Eventually, they'll ask someone why they keep getting waved at, or they'll Google it and find out about the Jeep wave. I've seen several JK drivers on this very forum that have stated they were never told about the wave, but after noticing several Jeep waves, they sought the power of Google and discovered what they had been missing. Jeepers won't know about the wave unless someone tells them. But how will they even know to ask unless they see people waving all the time and begin to wonder about it?

Keep on wavin', folks.

I don't wave back so that I can go on Wranglerforum and read a wave thread that the guy made because I didn't wave back.

Do people really never search for questions before they ask them.

There should be some kind of memo that comes with your Jeep purchase forcing you to read a couple of the threads on the forum first! Either way, I always wave when I see another Jeep, regardless of year and model, that's just part of the community, right?

And yes, I searched for it before I asked the question. Just something that comes up in conversation often with me and my Jeep buddies. Isn't that the point of the forum?

I'd say JK drivers are about 50/50 around my part of the world. I do notice the 4 door JK drivers are a lot less likely to wave than the 2 door drivers.

Yes but when there are 3 threads a week on the topic it get's kind of old. I don't understand why everyone cares about the wave so much. If someone doesn't want to wave to you then who cares?

Why is this in the tech section? Not even remotely technical.

I also agree, who gives a shit if a wave is returned or not. Wave threads are a waste of bandwidth.

One day, sitting at a red light, a JK cruised through the green light blowing his horn waving at me. That was awesome!

It's funny you mention that...I do notice that I don't get a wave back from a lot of Jk's (unless they are lifted).

Has anyone here 'missed' a wave? Ugh I have felt so bad for noticing a fellow TJ-er waving at me when it was too late. He's probably thinking, "What a jack-ass" and starting a thread about it on his Jeep forum. Hahaha

I don't think I've missed one, yet. I did have a mis-timed wave exchange a few days ago. I waved first, saw the driver wasn't looking in my direction as he zoomed through an intersection, so aborted my wave. Soon as I stopped waving, he looked over and waved. I don't think he saw me wave. All he saw was some chick in a Rubi staring at him as he waved. THE HORROR!

I just got my first jeep last month, completely stock still. That being said, within the first week around here I got waves from the Wranglers I did see, modded or not. I am happy to say that I waved back and wasn't dumbfounded at all, and felt welcomed into the Jeep family straightaway.

So far my waving has been an arm out the window with a couple fingers up, rain or shine.

My wave consists of lifting my hand off the steering wheel and just raising my hand. If I have my doors off then yeah I'll wave out the window. As far as waving to JK owners go, I rarely do it. Why? Well in my area, the majority of people who drive JKUs and JKs are either real estate people or business men who don't do much wheeling. How do I know they don't wheel much? Well I parked next to a mall crawler JKU at Ihop and the guy came out and wiped a part of his fender flare with a rag.. He thought I scratched his flares or something.

Plus, I believe real jeeps were only with 2 doors. Jeep never added 4 doors before for a reason. If I had to own any JK it would have to be a 2 door JK.. lol that's just my opinion of 4 door jeeps, but if one JKU waves at me, you better believe I will return that wave..

Had my nephew in the jeep today. Waved at another jeeper (jk) and got a wave back? He said who was that? I said don't know. He said why did you wave. I said because when you buy a jeep they make you sign a paper that says you will wave at all jeeps. I think he believed me.

Been reading all these threads about the hype of Chrysler possibly moving Jeep production to China. While I guess it's a possibility due to the Jeep craze there, and the fact that they pretty much own this country now lock, stock and BOND!
Never-the-less, it's raised some questions in my head:

1.) If we start importing Jeeps from China will we have to dispense with the traditional Jeep wave; and start standing up in the drivers seat and bow to a passing Chinese Jeep?

2.) Will the Jeep logo now look like this? J伊伊P

3.) Since they have no "R" sound in their language will it be known as the "Wangla" ?

4.) Will this be the standard spare tire cover?

Well - I drove around 3/4's of Oahu today - and out of two dozen waves I got three back - one from a TJ and two JK's. I think alot of the JKU's around the island are probably rentals and I can't see Hertz or Enterprise initiating anyone with the Jeep wave.

On the bright side a white FJ (my car's cousin from the other side of the Pacific?) and a lifted Chevy gave me a wave - both caught me by surprise but I managed a quick wave back and thought it was cool to see a little camaraderie among different makes.

My wife got the wave the day after we got ours. I'm still yet to get it back, but have only been driving at night. I did give one today on my way home though.

I am more used to waving while on my bike tho.

Don't know if everybody is just glad the election is about over, but I got 100% wave back today. Couple that with the 5 minutes it took to vote and the hubby fixing the coil springs yesterday (bye squeak) and I'm a happy camper - at least until they announce a winner of POTUS.

Jeep Cherokee sport problems

Hey guys I own a 97 Cherokee sport. Just recently hit 169,000 miles. However I am having problems with it now. Not sure how to diagnose it. While driving the car will not properly catch rpms. Even when you give it gas it jerks forward and doesn't properly rev. Eventually when idling the car will shut off. Replaced 02 sensor but not luck..... Any pone have some ideas would really appreciate the help

Toss up a thread in the Cherokee tech section of - jeepforum.com. You'll get more suggestions than you can chase a stick at!

For years riding my Goldwing I waved at anything that ran on two wheels with a motor. To me it's the two wheels that count. My TJ is pretty stock other than the 31" tires but I wave at all Jeep Wranglers. Whether they wave back or not is immaterial to me. I do seem to get less waves back now that I put the hard top back on for the winter. When I have the soft top up or down I seem to get more waves. What a pity after all that work buffing the old shot paint off the hard top and repainting it.
BTW - I still wave at all two wheelers from my scooter which is a 600cc Silverwing. It breaks some HD riders hearts too because it will beat a stock Sportster across an intersection in a traffic light drag. 450lbs and 60hp help that scooter. The Sporty might beat me on top end since the SW tops out around 110mph. It's not your grandfather's motorscooter.
