Received my first JKU wave yesterday. On top of that, BOTH people in the front seat waved! I got myself a twofer! It was awesome. And my husband was riding with me to provide witness to the historic moment.

I have been waving like an idiot the past couple weeks with no waves back. I see a yellow wrangler coming towards me today with a roof rack and I think to myself "oh yeah I'm totally waving to this dude." But then past memories flood into my head, "but what about that yj with a lift the other day he didn't wave, and every jk you pass doesn't wave. Hell even that other TJ with the snorkle didn't wave the other day. Yea, screw it I'm not waving" yellow wrangler with roof rack gets closer and does the two finger steering wheel wave. I'm shocked. Delayed reaction. I get up my two fingers as fast as I can. Did he even see?! I think I just became "that guy" screw it I'm waving like a dork to everyone again.

Saw an awesome dirty TJ on the interstate today. 4" lift, 33"s, body armor, roof rack, jerry cans, etc. It was following a F-350 that was hauling a large travel trailer. I matched speeds and pulled up alongside the TJ. Saw a lovely woman driving. I smiled and waved and she returned both the smile and the wave. Looks like she was driving the Jeep while her husband was hauling the oversized camper. Looked like they had some fun over the weekend! I think I smiled for a good two miles after that.

I went to Wallyworld yesterday to pick up a few things and the place was packed. As I'm crusing up and down the isles lookin for a parking space, I spotted a nice Red TJ backing out at the other end of the isle. Unfortunately before I got there another car coming from the opposite direction stopped and put his directional on, "claiming" the space. As I approached, The red TJ pulled back into the spot and the guy got out. The other car drove away kinda miffed. The guy from the TJ waves as I pass and says, "Hey, I'm leavin', it's all yours!" Best dam Jeep wave I ever got!
Thanks Red TJ

I do something similar in rush hour traffic. If I wave to a Jeep and get acknowledged, i will now help that Jeep find holes in traffic when the driver needs it.

where i live most yj's and tj's wave back as long as its not a old lady/soccer mom. about 1/3 of jk's wave back but at least half of them look confused modded xj's zj's and wj's normally wave back but the stock ones not so much. i always wave. i was driving with one of my buddies and got three waves in about a mile and he was who were all those guys you must know a lot of people with jeeps. I responded i didn't know any of them its just a thing jeep owners do.

Nobody in SouthWestern CT waves, because almost everybody has a JKU, and most of the TJ's don't wave either. It drives me nuts!

I wave to all Wranglers, arm up and as obvious as possible. If I miss a Jeep, or even worse, miss a wave... I feel really bad! The sales guy told me about the wave when I bought mine. I didn't believe him at first, but then it happened, and happened again and again. I will admit, JKU's are hit and miss a far as a return wave goes, but since I drive a stock 2012 JKU, please don't neglect us..

Jeep Waves

I try to wave at everyone. In Chicago, a lot of times they just do not see you. I know, because sometimes I miss people in Jeeps. Don't see them in time. I feel bad when that happens, but most of the time I wave in time. I would say that lately - over 80% of the time, in the city, no one waves back.

BUT, in my favorite places, like the Upper Peninsula, everyone waves at Jeeps, even girls driving pickup trucks with gun racks!!

I am trying to find a place to rent Jeeps in Australia. I am going next year. So far I have not had much luck. There is an off road island there - Fraiser Island. It is all sand and rain forests with Jeep Tracks through the island and on the ocean beaches, Hope they wave in Australia!!

PS, When my Jeep is not all full of MUD, it is clean. I baby it and wipe all the black plastic and rubber seals with Aerospace Lubricant. I run the best synthetic oil and 5-way rotate. I am going to keep my sweet ride for the rest of my life, and my next new Rubicon will be Gecko Green with a blackout if I can still get it when I am ready!!

But if Chrysler starts to make them in China or Mexico, I am done!

Around here in the New York City area the jeep wave is rare to come by. I myself have a JKU but as people have said before, the less modded it is, the less likely they'll wave back. If I see a stock JKU with a body matching top and a soccer mom or 19 year old pretentious looking girl hunched over the wheel, im better off keeping my hand down.

I think hardly any jeep owners around here put it in 4wd unless the snow hits the roads. What a shame.

Agreed.. please don't neglect us b/c we may look like 'soccer moms'... some of us are working on our stock JKUs and some of us had to give up our very sweet beloved TJ.... due to a baby, soon to be another Jeep enthusiast, btw. That's right, we are creating a NEW GENERATION of Jeepers!

"I parked next to a mall crawler JKU" - gimme a break. This attitude went out with the dinosaurs. We are all Jeep lovers... or we would have purchased a *gasp* Hummer!!! lol

As I say to people with that attitude... if they want to pay for my mods and pay for any repairs for damage that might occur if I take my DD on trails, I will happily do whatever they want to my Jeep.

I've yet to have one of these "true Jeepers" take me up on the offer. My wallet is pretty empty, so I'll just keep enjoying my soccer mom Jeep!

My daughter went from car seat to driving lessons in a YJ/TJ, and learned the Jeep wave by the time she was 4. Now she's the proud owner of her own '03!

i took delivery of my first jeep two nights ago after selling them for 6 months and had been itching for that first wave i got today on my lunch break from a tj. for weeks leading up to my purchase i'd see a jeep everywhere i looked and they all dried up once i bought one.

it made my day, i felt so stupid happy i wanted to punch myself.
(i did play it cool though, it happened naturally... used to the boat wave from sailing already)
