I have to sadly admit that I was in aware of "The Jeep Wave" officially until a few days ago. But, since I had noticed the more I've modded my JK the more fellow Jeepers that wave. So I decided to research just incase. Now that I'm more educated on the topic, I will do my best to be a good Jeep owner!

I had to use my wife's car to go somewhere last weekend and she had to use the Jeep...She sends me a text saying..."I'M SO EXCITED! I GOT MY FIRST WAVE!!!"

I have to say, I was pretty stoked for my first wave too!

I drive up and down the I-5 corridor between Seattle and Bellingham. The last 3 days I had to go to the Kitsap peninsula. Lots of Jeeps and everybody waves! Made working out of my zone a lot better!

I wave at all jeeps, and they tend to wave back; way more often than not. Sometimes, they beat me to it. My significant other thought I was goofy for waving; but then he saw that others wave as well. Heh.

I waved at a 4 door the other day and the woman driving it had her daughter with here, she didn't wave back but here daughter did, after that we both pulled into the same parking lot and here she came attitude and all she said "'what are you doing waving at my daughter? shes only 10 what are you a pedo?"
I said " no mam its a Jeep thing we all wave at each other when we see each other one the road" her daughter immediately said " yea mom its the Jeep wave thing dad does" She was all kinds of apologetic after that she said she thought he husband just knew the people LOL

Yesterday I saw her again on the road and she waved at me when I waved at her.

My wife thinks the wave is goofy. She just rolls her eyes at the whole thing. When we used to take my STi people would flash their brights or wave and she would wave back if she saw them...but that was after I brought it to her attention those people were signaling to US.

We've had a few Jeeps pass us and wave and she's seen them, so she waves back. Most of the time the only ones we see waves from are fellow JKs, so they're the ones I bother lifting a finger for. The previous generations can wave to me first, I'm done with them.

I hate to commit to a full wave without a thorough background check of the driver...maybe a slight headnod, that way if it is not acknowledged I can simply act as if I was merely cracking my neck . avoiding an awkward moment.

There's a 3 day backlog at the formal wrangler wave background check department. Its good to be cautious.

Around here there are a lot less waves in the winter. Probably because so many have their hard tops on and the door windows shut. The tinting makes it harder to see the driver as you pass. In the summer, especially with the soft top on or lowered lots more waving going on.

I live in AZ and I've come to the point where if it isn't lifted or dirty I won't wave!! Stock JKs and the elderly are the worst at it. No one likes to go for a high five or a wave and be left hanging, especially when your Jeep looks so good! Disrespectful!

Harsh haha, You can't blame the older gens when so many people with JK's don't wave back!! It's not our fault. IMO.

I just got my first jeep -a '98 TJ- last summer and loved it so much I sold it and bought a '09 JK. It's pretty cool when another jeep waves but I ride a Harley too, and the percentage of riders waving puts us jeepers to shame. I'll do my best to improve those numbers...

So what's the lore/history/tradition behind the wave? I wasn't two blocks from the dealer when I got my first wave (bought my 2013 Moab on Dec. 14). But I've noticed since that it's only other two-doors that wave -- haven't gotten one from a four-door...

I feel like a bit of a poser, but I bought some windshield light brackets and installed some cheap spotlights mostly to indicate "I'm an enthusiast; it's ok to wave!"

I usually try to wave first with good distance, so I have time to wave the finger if they don;t wave. Soccer mom's and yuppie's should not own a Jeep period. And old dude's with two earings that don't drive motorcycles...

We just bought our 2-dr hard top Sahara on New Year's Eve. As we were driving it to a state park not far from us for a photo op the next morning we saw another Wrangler coming toward us. We both waved at about the same time.

I don't know, it was something about our first wave that made us feel like we're now a part of the family. It was a special moment.

Welcome to the family! (Hand in windshield waving)

Engine light on my 2011 Wrangler Sahara Unlimited

An engine light came on this morning in my 2011 Wrangler this morning. Without a manual in hand can anyone tell me what the red light is, it is an exclamationg point "!" , with a circle around it, on the instrument panel just about the "D" for Drive.
