This made me laugh. I'm from South Florida and haven't been home in a while.

I can remember back to the 60's and Jeepers waving to my dad in his cj and him telling me to wave and teaching me to ride with my foot on the door sill when the doors are off just like my kids do today.

I just got a stock TJ and I have been getting a lot less waves then my 92 YJ. Only aftermarket thing it had was tube bumpers.

I was sandwiched between two wranglers. In the left turn lane next to me was a Black 4d JK and over to my right was another Black 4d JK waiting his turn to cross the intersection. I got a double wave off as a passed the guy in the turn lane and crossed the guy at the light. Good thing I was just pulling away so I could go slow as I was not holding the wheel so I could perform my double wave ( or I just might have looked like a spaz)!!!

Whoa! You could easily be describing Washington DC, home of some of the WORST drivers! One woman whipped a u turn from the right lane, I was in the left, and she hit us. $2500 in damages to Dewey, left me wondering "can you NOT see this Jeep???" She didn't even look!

This weekend my cousin took me out on his boat which we trailer ed (sp) with his 92tj or yj I can't remember which one but the one with square headlights. After we put in at Dunedin harbor I took the jeep and the trailer over the causeway and to Honeymoon Island. I got 2 waves from 2 dr jeeps and one shiner from a dude in a 4 door. All I could think of was how much of a tool the dude in the 4 door was when I waved and he totally saw me and looked at me like he never had seen a jeep before.
Keep the wave going it is like the handshake to the secret club

I bought my first Jeep 2 weeks ago. It's a 2010 V6 Manual Black Jeep Wrangler soft top. Super clean, it looks and drives like it's new. I LOVE this Jeep like no other vehicle I've ever owned. I'm in Michigan & hope I don't get wave-snubbed because it's a stock JK. It's all I can afford at the moment!

Waved to the JKU next to me at the stoplight on the way home this evening.

Good news: Driver waved back.
Bad news: Driver waved back whilst picking her nose.

official Wrangler forum jeep wave thread

Hi all, new to this forum and just purchased my second jeep, first was twenty five years ago. bought a used '07 Wrangler unlimited of course the first thing I did was lift the thing and put on some 33's probably should have just bought one new but with the super low miles it made sense to go this route. anyway I had been wondering about the wave, every tj,cj,and jk I pass I get and give the wave. my wife thought I was nuts explaining this to her until we were together the other day and she experienced it first hand now she watches for other jeeps to make sure she waves.

I wave at all jeeps Im stock, I just purchased my jeep and for the time being I cant afford to lift it or get bigger tires right now so until then I will be stock and if I get ignored for it then its their loss. But I havent run across 1 jeep that isnt waving its a lot like the Vette and Harley community.

If you ride with me, it is REQUIRED that everyone waves at other Jeeps, and my tops down, you better give em a little holler too!

I find the wave is dependent on where you live. I'm in the northwest suburbs of Chicago; I get almost no waves out of JK drivers.

I would imagine that's a lot different than someone who lives in Colorado or Utah.

When I had an '89 YJ, I got waves from almost everyone in a Jeep. Now in my '97 TJ I get waves from YJ's and TJ's and once in a while a JK.
