I took a sick coworker home yesterday. She commented that she knew I was outgoing but that she couldn't believe how many people I was waving at. I asked her if there was something in common with everyone I was waving at and to look at the people I was waving at. 5 minutes later she exclaims "Oh they are all Jeeps!" "That is so cool!"

I bought my first jeep a few weeks ago and I didn't know about the jeep wave at first. It was the icing on the cake after buying my 2007 jku.

Quick question about "wave etiquette", if it has been covered apologies in advance...
I pass the same jeep EVERY MORNING, Monday thru Friday, while taking my son to school...sometimes he waves, sometimes he doesn't...I've had my JKU for a month, so I wave at ALL jeeps
Is there a set standard for repeat waves??

Bubba - I wave at every Jeep I see every time I see them. I actually see the same 3-4 Jeeps (these old CJs) almost every day and we always wave at each other.

Here in the Tampa area it seems like none of the JKs wave, unless they are lifted. I stopped even attempting to wave unless they initiate.

I have a car seat in my TJ, the rear facing kind. I have had the top down lately and my little girl waves to! Not just at Jeeps though, but when we pass a Jeep and she waves, we get the ultimate wave back. She can just barely see over my rear tire out the back.

I used to pass two jeeps on the way to work. At first I felt like a weirdo waving every day. I caught them waving the days -half asleep- and not really paying attention. From that point on .... I waved daily.

My wife pointed out the other day as we waved to every Wrangler we saw that it seems the women drivers are the ones that rarely wave back. Most seem like they don't even notice another Wrangler on the road.

My son was driving my Jeep the other day and two jeeps waved at him, but he didn't wave back, he was too nervous about a job interview to think of anything but the job and he forgot he was in my wrangler instead of his Comanche, I told him to ALWAYS remember which he's driving and wave in the Wrangler, he feels bad about not waving back at them.

he was on Buckner road in Va beach btw

I'm a girl and I wave at everyone I see! Most the time I don't get a wave back but I'm not worried about it.

I was driving to work Thursday when a guy in a YJ pulled up behind me. He had a roof rack with several lights around the top. I waved, he waved, and then flashed a couple of his off road lights. At the next light, he was making a left turn and I was going straight. We both waved again, and I noticed he had lights all the way around his roof rack and a sign that said "Zombie Chaser" attached to the rack.

Around here in this God Forsaken city Girls in Jeeps don't wave back because they think all the other guy wants to do is pick them up, I have three Jeeps that are driven by girls I see on my way to work every day and it took actually meeting them in person at the gas pump to convince them all I was doing was waving

Yeah some "guys" think that if a woman waves it means more than a wave...so yeah I can't blame the women...and FWIW I have found the more meet and greets and clubs I get involved with the more I hear, "I saw you and waved but you didn't see me"...yeah my Jeep is a little different than stock but still....are you sure it was me?....and I hear a lot from people that say, "I saw your wife, but didn't wave, didn't want to weird her out"...... and she is driving a stock '12 JK Sport...but it does have a couple stickers and "vanity" plate.

I think this area is big on

Unless I'm shifting gears, I throw up a hand ! I've been doing it for years with the Harley wave.

Jeep events ? During Bikeweek and bike events the wave is normally "waived". Just to many bikes and to much waiving.

One time a guy in the passenger seat of a Cherokee waved at a stoplight. I told him I dont usually wave at Cherokees but I'd make an exception. We've now been married five years. Now that was a heck of a wave!

Just moved to Denver in DEC 2012. In GA and back home in VA everyone waves. In the past 5 months I've waved at every single jeep I've passed and last week FINALLY had one wave back.

Best part is that it was a fully restored WWII Willys jeep, no doors on it, and it was sleeting out. I consider that more than making up for the others.

I'm still amazed at the amount of jeeps in Miami Beach. Everywhere you look. Some very cool mods as well, but I'll own her a year next month and never a wave or a nod from one of them

Not an excuse...but I noticed one of my friends who has a JKU, it was difficult to "see" the wave. More than once I mentioned I had seen him and the response was, "Yeah I saw ya, didn't you see me wave?"

His JKU is Dark Blue Sahara with HT. His front windows aren't tinted, but the HT are and rear doors.

If he waves with his Right hand you can't see it for squat.....if he uses his left hand is find from the side, but from the front still "iffy". If he holds it up to the windshield, left or right hand all is good!!

IDK maybe all that darkness with that big top makes a difference?... Your hand can not be highlighted from behind or other windows as well?
Maybe all those JKUs have been waving?

Soon to be Jeep owner (hopefully) and I can't wait to wave, even if I don't get a wave back. I love this tradition!

Since moving to Pennsylvania I receive wave backs from about 85% of Jeeps I pass. I am surprised at how many JK owners initiate a wave. Even Ole timey Jeeps initiate waves or wave back despite me driving a JK. I also notice that Jeeps in parking lots seem to be next to each other or near each other.

Seems PA is very Jeep friendly and I have seen more Jeeps in PA then I have in any other state that I have lived in or driven through. Lots of new JKs too!
