First noticed 'the wave' after moving to my new place. At first I was like ''Wow what a friendly community.'' Then I noticed all the waves were from different Jeeps LOL! Cool stuff!

This sucks, I just got my jeep and have been eager to find a jeep to wave too. Well later today I see a nice YJ in my rear view mirror. It seemed like he was speeding up to wave or say hi. So I slowed down a bit, he gets next to me and just looks at me. I wave and got nothing. I just hate it when people don't wave!!!

Riding shotgun and waving... is this allowed?

My girlfriend and I are new Jeep owner- just bought a 2011 2D Sport about four months ago, we are LOVING it! The wave is one of the best parts, and we always wave (whoever is driving), but sometimes when she's driving and I'm riding gun, I feel compelled to wave too, especially with the top down and doors off! I don't want to look like a dork, but the impulse is always there (she gets it too, when I'm driving). What's the proper etiquette on this?

At a four way this morning there was a Jk who was completely topless and doorless and I had my windows off just because I was in a hurry this morning. I leaned over and waved a full arm wave and she hung out her door spot and waved back. I have her a rock out over my top when I was passing her. I love the way into jeep- owners around here. There's only a few if us but its great!

My wife always waves when she rides shotgun, I laugh at her. When shes driving she will give a big wave out the window or out the top. She's such a dork.

If my kids are riding shotgun, they wave. And I encourage it.

I'm always waving, but only 50% of the people around here waves back. Sadly I've noticed that out of that 50% one that don't wave back, 95% of them are driving JKUs.

I do the same thing. I wave when the wife is driving and it seems like we pass more jeeps when we aren't in the jeep! The other night we were in mcds drive through and there were 2 jks and a cj behind us but we were in the flex any ways I wave at every jeep even the occasional lifted Cherokee, at least they got heart! Lol

I got 6 out of 7 waves back today. Even one from a little boy at a gas station. That really rocked and made up for the one who didnt wave (from a guy in my class who is just an a**hole)

Yesterday I saw her again on the road and she waved at me when I waved at her.

Funny thing today... Sitting at the only stop light in town, btw a town with about 4 jeeps and none that wave, a nice copper color 4door Jk drive by. My top is off and I gave a side wave at the older couple and both of them started laughing and happily waved back.
Thank you tourists!!

Got my new Jeep on Saturday, took the hardtop off on Sunday and have been waving at every Jeep I see in the meantime. Well, today I got my first wave back! Thank you Mr. White JK (I think, I'm not real familiar with the two door Wrangler styles yet) that I saw about 3:45 in Novato. I still have a big grin on my face!

Haven't been real successful with return waves, but I keep trying. Today I was on a highway in the middle of farm country and stuck my hand out the sunrider top at a crop duster as he passed almost overhead and he dipped his wing for me in return. Pretty darn close to the power/phone poles too! I guess he really wanted to acknowledge the wave! Maybe he has a Jeep as his land form of transportation! HAH!

I was 0 for 5 today! No one waves when I drive my jk, and everyone waves when I'm in my Tj.

That's funny but it's kinda sad that the jeep world is like that

When I went and picked up my '13 JKU I knew about the jeep wave from driving my dads old YJ when I was in highschool.. The day I went in and signed the papers, and drove it off the lot.. I got about 30 meters off the lot, and had 2 JKUR's, lifted, big tires, etc drive by me and wave.. It was at that exact moment, I truely felt like a Jeeper.

I live in Mich. and get about 50% of waives back. It's mostly the younger kids that don't waive. Could be because I'm a lot older than them. Who knows. I will say this...it seems like every 10th cars is a Jeep now. I'm beginning to focus so much energy watching for jeeps just so I won't snub one lol

Jackpot! Last night coming back from Lowe's, I passed 5 Wranglers in a couple of minutes. About half waved, I even got a wave back from an older couple in a brand new white Sport. I get alot of waves when I have the doors off and the summer top on. I even got a thumbs up from a bunch of gang bangers in a tricked out low rider over the holiday weekend. I noticed they were checking out the tires on a lowered Mustang (poor car), then they turned and looked at my Wrangler. All I hear was, "what!? No doors!?" Then all 4 of them gave us a thumbs up. I had my wife and both daughters with me, and they waved back at them.
