Oil change question

So bought a 98 jeep wrangler and decided to change oil myself to be on safe side. Afterwards I noticed the oil pressure drops to almost 20psi when idling at a red light. But goes to 40 when driving. Researched and said it was normal for high mileage. Has a 159xxx miles on it. Is this normal?

If your asking is its normal for oil pressure to drop at idle then yes. The oil pump is mechanically driven off the motor so the higher the rpm the higher the pressure.

As the above poster said, yes this is normal. In fact, this is normal for about all tj's and cars.

As oil heats up, it becomes less vicious and thins out., resulting in a drop in oil pressure at idle, when the engine isn't spinning as fast as it is when you are driving.
98 TJ sport 4.0L I6 356,000 miles.
No Engine, axle, tranny, or t-case rebuilds.
