oil pressure 80psi

My oil pressure gauge on my '81 YJ w/2.5 now pegs all the way past 80 psi before I start the engine, as soon as I turn on the ignition. I'm guessing either the gage or the sending unit. I tried looking in Chilton's for information on where the sending unit is located and could not find anything about it. How would I find out if it is the gauge or the sending unit -- or could it be something else I'm not aware of?
I changed oil about 500 miles ago, the gauge was alright after that. I just added a half quart yesterday to bring it back up to full and noticed the gauge today. I can't imagine a connection to that, but then I really know either.
Any help, suggestions, solutions?

Thanks for your reply. The sendng unit is where my thinking was going too, but where the heck is the sending unit? It's not even mentioned in my Hains manuel(not Chiltons like I first said). The engine is a stock 2.5L. I'm assuming that it's OK to keep running it as is until I can find it to fix/replace.

I have a 4.0 YJ and mine does the same thing. Right after start up it pegs out until the engine gets warm and then it centers back up. It only started doing this after I started putting high mileage oil in it and when I switched back, it stopped. I'm not sure if that makes a difference, but look at the oil as the cause too.
