oil spilled on flare - how to clean?

I went to the dealer to get my oil changed. First mistake. I just wanted to take advantage of the free one...

The kid was filling it back up and oil ran off the pitcher onto my new Bushwacker flat fender on the driver's side. It was raining too, so I didn't notice it right away. A few hours later I caught it, but by that time it had soaked in enough that you can still see a ring where it was. The middle of the spot is fine, but the ring is about 1/8 inch wide and the entire spot is 4x3 inches.

I tried Dawn and water, not much better. Some others suggested stripping it - but they also suggested harsh chemicals that would etch or whitten the flare too.

I haven't tried Simple Green yet, not sure if that's a safe choice either.

Any other suggestions? Will it eventually wear off?

At one angle it doesn't show at all, but at another angle it's visible.

The dealer has been dealt with, I'm already waiting to hear back from the big guy in charge who is out of town right now.

I don't want to go to the extreme of replacing the flare - yet - but it is only two weeks old too, so they screwed up my new flare too.

Subscribed. I have mud spots on mine. Back to black works for a while but it comes back.

I imagine ill just get used to it.

For mud spots I have used Forever Black - the red clay in Oklahoma has stained my flares before and FB is more of a dye then a cleaner. When I used it on the TJ I would use Dawn and get it clean, and then tape off the flare from the painted fender. The applicator is like a shoe polish bottle, or edge dressing, and this stuff dyes the flare like edge dressing too. The key is to do it in the shade, and apply 3 coats. The first coat looks like crap, it will show overlaps where it dried between strokes. I found using as much product as possible, flooding an area and then spreading it out quickly, keeps the streaking down. Wait 20 minutes and put another coat or two down and it's good. One application like this lasted my 6 months looking good, and if I didn't care that it got a little worn down I could let it go over winter too and redo in spring again.

I have thought about trying FB on these, but they aren't faded. I've also considered oiling the whole flare in hopes to blend it, but oil is kind of bad for plastic.

Well, it doesn't matter much now, the tornado debris and mud has blended everything in to the point you can't tell the flares were black. That may be one of the better situations here right now.
