Ok, what the heck is making that noise?

This has been driving me crazy.

When I open the door to get in ('12 JK Sport) I hear sound that sounds like, for lack of a better description, a power antennae going up. Last about 2 seconds.

This happens when I open the door. I haven't turned anything on or even put the key in the ignition yet.

What is it?

Do you have power locks? It may be the driver's door triggering all the other locks to unlock.

Nope. No power locks.

Could it be a pump priming? Dunno.

It could be the stereo reading/looking for a cd. I hear the same noise, sounds like an electric motor. I assume it's from the stereo.

After market head unit, no cd player. Next.

Where is it coming from? What part of the Door? Is it only the Driver Door?

I never said it was coming from the door. Sorry.

It sounds like it's coming from behind the driver side dash.

Happens all the time on ours. Both '07 and '11. I'm thinking it's HVAC related.

2011 hear it every time the doors are opened. Whirring sound comes from inside center dash. I would have to agree hvac.

I have an '05 automatic and sometimes when I close my doors (usually the passenger side) I get some sort of a whine or vibration sound that I could never identify. It lasts about 2 seconds and stops abruptly. I cant really tell where in the jeep it comes from.
