Okay to start rolling in 2nd gear?

I'm new to manuals and purchased a '98 Sahara a few weeks ago. Is it okay to start/launch the car in 2nd gear? I only ask because it feels like you drive literally 3 feet and it already wants to be in 2nd gear. My knowledge on the functioning of manual transmissions is crap so that's why I ask. Thanks.

Yes. Don't lug the engine, but neither feel like you have to drive around at 3mph at 3200rpm either.

I have a 6speed and hardly ever use 1st unless I'm offroading.

I honestly cant think of the last time i used 1st gear other then when im off road and still then i use 2nd alot. the gearing is low enough to where you can start in second at a dead stop with no problem
