Optima FYI

Just thought I would pass this on ..................................
The side terminals on the Optima Battery, dont run the leads to your winch to them, use the top terminals only.
I called Optima, They told me use the top only for winch hook up, said it would ruin the battery if you conected to the side terminals.
I 'm sure alot of you know this, but for the ones who dont just a little FYI

Optima also suggests only using a Red Top optima for winching. That didn't stop me from buying a yellow top.

Holy crap! I did just that. Guess I'll fix that tomorrow. How does it ruin the battery if you don't mind?

the side post aren't regulated for as much amp draw as the top post are. due to the way they are mounted/connect into the battery.

Total melt down, I have seen it twice now with guys in the club I belong to.

Top posts for everything that needs a large draw, side posts for aux type stuff. (Lights, lights, lights, lights, cb, lights, etc)

So, my lights can run off of the side posts?

Someone needs to design a power management center to mount next to the battery with one line coming from the battery but several outs to use for various items, including the winch.

I wish I new how to make electrical boards and such. I have a picture in my head, just no resources. We have an electrical supply house down the street, maybe they have such a thing.
