Our Week at SEMA.

Just wanted to throw out a thread about Joe, Lisa and I's trip to SEMA last week. We did not get a whole lot of pictures and the ones that we did get are from my cell phone since we were there for business purposes and none of us wanted to carry a camera along with the multitude of information we collected throughout the show.

Monday when we arrived we have some time to kill before we needed to be at the convention center for a pre-Sema kickoff reception. So we head over to the Imperial Palace and check out their car collection they have. On the way back we had occasion to lay eyes on the funniest bum sign either of us had ever seen.

The picture is a bit small but the sign states "Father killed by Ninja's. Need money for Karate lessons". Needless to say we gave this guy some change and had Joe pose with his best side forward for the picture.

However little did we know that the ninja assassin was hanging out at SEMA. We clipped this spy photo from what I dub the "Wheel Room" down stairs in the South Hall.

We wanted to show the guy on the street where his ninja was, but we never saw him again. Jeremy from Rock Krawler was even going to give him a few pointers on the Karate situation to help him out.

The next three days were full of hitting about as many booths of the show that we could stomach. Saw some decent products and some not so decent products. As this was my first show I however thought the whole thing was pretty cool. Joe and Lisa did let me know that the 4x4 and Truck section was only about 80% of what it was last year and that truthfully was a little disheartening.

Here are some of the highlight pics that we took the first couple of days.

Rampage Jackson's Truck

Nice OD Flat Green 4 Door in the Mopar Booth

Very slick Ford that West Coast Customs did for Mickey Thompson

Nice 4 Door across from Mopar

And in our opinion the best thing on the 4x4 floor this year came from the Toyota Booth. They had both this Convertible FJ (that looked very close to being a production model) and a Diesel Dually Tundra (That I didn't get a picture of because there was a million people around it)

Then on Wednesday we are downstairs in the North Hall looking at everything else the show had to offer and getting blinded by millions of flashing LED lights from Japan and all other parts of the world when we rambled on to this in the Katzkin Leather Booth.

Of course their emphasis was on the leather seats since they just signed a new deal with Mopar to do their aftermarket leather seats. Joe noticed the oddities first which ended up being a complete dash from a Grand Cherokee with the steering wheel upside down, the shifter panel from the Grand also yielded us a 4x2 button from the selectrac tcase that didn't do anything. And as you can see partially from the one picture the word "Low Sulfur Diesel Only" under the gas gauge. And sure as hell the Wrangler was badged CRD and the guy popped the hood for us and let us check it out as Lisa was discussing some seating options with him. There you will find the pretty little 3.0 CRD sitting in there.

Now before you all start calling your dealerships and cancelling your JK orders until the Diesel is out don't worry. We have it on verified terms that this particular Wrangler setup was for display purposes only and it was heading back to Michigan to be deposited in the crusher as soon as the show was over.

Here are some remaining random photo's I took during the show of odd little things that looked cool.

Some Challengers, one in the Mopar booth and one painted up as the General Lee that was done by West Coast Customs. Now having seen the new Challenger in person, this car is truly bad ass and will be a hit when it's released. Even more so than the new Camaro and Convertible Camaro Concept we saw at GM.

Some cool wheels

And some cool 30's (no spoke and spinner model)

And then there was the shot to top off the whole trip as we were enjoying some down time on Freemont Street Thursday night before we headed home.

Yup, it was heading back for the crusher directly after the show.

Yeah, my phone was all I wanted to carry around with me. Didn't want to mess with a real camera. I also hate looking like a tourist.

We covered probably 85% of it I'd say. There were some things like the stereo section and much of the flashy light crap that we didn't want to see.

We spent 3 full days in there and just barely caught everything that we wanted to take in. Spent probably an hour or so in just the new products area alone. Which was very cool. Pretty much booked thru the wheels and such so we could spend more time with Mopar and the tire manufacturers.

I honestly don't see how people can say they went thru the whole show in just 1 day.

The company I work for had a contest. The winning branch in each region had a winner drawn at random for the trip to SEMA----I won for the Florida area. I had really bad luck for about 8 years so don't hate.

NICE, I love the Karate guy. Thing is though he was dead serious about all of it when Joe talked to him. To him it was not just a ploy to get money. We were staying at Paris so we were right next door to each other.

So did you go into the Las Vegas Club at all Thursday night? If so i was the big guy with the shaved head that had all the damn security around me. They thought I was someone who had been ripping off the machines a couple weeks ago. All ended well as they found the tats and the fact that I'm from Arizona. They ended up buying us dinner for it all.

Yeah, it wasn't funny when they called in the state gaming police. I was pretty pissed at the whole thing and had Joe sitting next to me going "I'll give you 200 bucks to run for the door. I'll get your license back, just run."
