Overland

Found a neat article on equipping an Overland vehicle on expeditionportal keeping the excess weight down. Some good learning points when it comes to handling, tuned suspension, weight distribution on a roof rack and more...

That let's out JK with their electronic everything. (see also point 5)
Mess up the CAN Buss, and everything fails.

Unfortunately the CAN Bus is prevalent almost anywhere. Ideally you don't want anything computer controlled but those days are gone.

I would not run anything through the Canbus...never did on my BMW GS's and won't with the JK.

Spinlock, you are correct, we are still tethered to the mother board...

The irony of it is that electronics are orders of magnitude more reliable than mechanical moving parts. The problem is it more difficult to troubleshoot the electronics without a fair amount of knowledge which is not readily available.
