painting my metal step up bars

I hate these things but my wife likes them and she drives it sometimes sooooooo I figured I would keep them on they need to be painted because they are greyish color now rather than black, I dont know what would be a good paint for metal that would not get chipped of very easily, im not talking about offroad just wear and tear from daily use of stepping on them, my guess is to just scuff it up and use a flat black for primer but for my original coat maybe like a textured look, I dont know I would like to hear your opinions on what you would do if you were me. I wont even get started on this for another week or two, we have family in town visiting . thanks guys and gals

I'd get a quart of Herculiner. It will also make them slip resistant.
