Nice. I'm going to go with a dark blue/black combo to go with my paint/trim color, if I can find that locally. As for other uses, thinking I could make something that I could slip onto a deer to pull it out of the timber next fall/winter. Wondering if there are any hunting or camping uses that would be must-do's...

I've used 550 cord to pull a deer out and string him up before! Got 2 installed, it was cold today so I'll get the other 2 tomorrow! I'll get a pic and upload it. They look good, and are stiff enough to grab onto.

Here it is installed.

I think it looks great. As I said, I knotted the 550cord. I tucked them to the inside and you can barely see them. Without taking the top off you can't tell I used 550 cord to tie the top together. Ilove that they are solid in the center. LLove the way they turned out.

I finished mine a few weeks ago.
I found it easier to use a candle, this allowed me to keep two hands working on merging the burned ends and molding them.

A note, make sure the buckles' screw sides are concurrent.

As you can see I did not do that, walked outside in the 30 degree darkness and had a hell of a time trying to find the loop ha.

Here is one installed, I don't have a pic of both.

All in all I like them, I think I'll paint the shackles one of these days. Thanks for the project write up Yeller.

Ive seen many variations on length for the hand grip section itself. Yours look like a perfect length. Can you tell me exactly the length you used? The tape measure shows 6" but with the dip Im assuming 7"? maybe 8"??? And did you do the single cobra? or did you do the double?
Thanks for the info.

It depends on the quality of the paracord you use. I used 9 cord (internal cords) and it hasnt stretched a bit.

There are youtube videos showing people making Hammocks and hammock chairs out of 550 cord. Try to check on youtube for ideas.

Thanks for the info.

That grip is using the original lengths from the first post in this thread. I rebuilt that handle a few times just to get the lenghts right. once I got it where I wanted it, I broke it down and measured everything. And thats where I got all my lengths from. And, yes its a single cobra weave. I do like the idea of adding a small bar inside there to strengthen up the hand grip a bit but its not completely necessary.

You will be surprised at how easy it is to do. My first shot at doing the Cobra stitch turned out suprisingly well.

Question for you guys. So I made these for my jeep and have a bunch of jeep friends asking me to make and sell them. How much do you think is a fair price for two? Four?

I am actually adding it into a fundraiser I am doing for my daughter that has a very rare neurological disease. I have been selling 'Harper Warrior Bands' to raise money and now some jeep friends are asking if I would do oh shit handles also. Just not sure what would be a fair price.

I would charge between $20-30 pr. I don't usually have a problem getting $30 pr. for a standard set using cobra.

For just the bands send an email to harperwarriorband@gmail.com and say whether you would like the Harper warrior band color (which is pink and purple...picture below) or any other two colors you would like, how many you would like and then the wrist size for each. Once I finish the band I will send you an email asking for your address to send them to and give you the link for the Paypal account that you can make your donation to.

Here are the Harper warrior band colors:

This is Harper wearing hers:

These are a bunch that I made for my local jeep clubs meetup event:

And then this is the handles I made for my jeep:

I am still unsure as to whether or not I will be taking on the handles right yet, as they are a lot more work then the bands and the bands are doing pretty well for her fundraiser. The next thing I will be doing tho is probably winch line pulls.

** on a side note, thanks yeller for this thread, it taught me a skill that I can now use to raise money for my little girl. Thank you!

So you're in Baltimore are ya? I'm in Maryland too. I'd love to help a local Jeeper out. How much are you charging for everything.

No exact charge, it's a gift I am giving you for making a donation to my little princess. Yes we are from Baltimore but have been up in Children's Hospital of Philadelphia since beginning of February.

I dont remember how much paracord I used. Maybe 8 feet of green and 5 or 6 feet of grey. My ebrake still has the button, not sure what you mean. The only mod I did to it was from the bottom bracket so I could get my ammo can center console in.

Doorstop Info.

Ok so I gave my original paracord doorstops to a friend so I made some more tonight. For anyone needing info on measurements etc, I used four loops on each end for strength totalling 48" and melted the ends together. For the wrap it took 70" total. Since I used two colors I took half and half and melted the end of the blue camo with the end of the black. My wrap is pretty tight so you may want to use and inch or two extra if you wrap loose. Ill put up a pic of the doorstop installed soon. The pic of the green one on the board was to make then take apart for the proper measurements. (I had a lot of green to cut up). The nails on the board are 5.5" apart which is one inch shorter then my original stock doorstops on the jeep.

Doorstop Installed Photo

Ok, at the bottom you will see a pic of the doorstop strap installed in my Jeep. Took a whole 10 minutes to make.
