Thanks for posting this DIY project. I added this to my JKUR and I like the look. I didn't stitch the paracord fasteners, but now I am thinking I will.

I also tweaked the dimensions and it seems to be a better fit for me.

Dimensions:
-Paracord Fasteners: 41"
-Grab-Handle Core: 50" (makes about a 8" handle)
-King Cobra Stitch 18' of paracord (single-color)/ 2 x 9' cords singed together (dual-colors)

Once again thanks for sharing this.

Google "coxcombing"... It's actually easier than cobra once you get the hang of it, and it's better suited to solid stuff like handles.

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can purchase parachord matching the DOZER paint?
On a side note, I'm looking for custom fit seat covers for a JK which are black and DOZER colored.

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Yeah, it took a while to wrap the steering wheel but, I really like the way it came out. I wrapped my steering wheel using a know from YouTube video, search for "Paracord Donut". It took @ 100 ft. After I finished, I sprayed the wrap with some water since paracord will shrink a little when it gets wet (at least the first time) so it tightened up really nice.

Try gorillaparacord.com, goldenrod color. It's the closest I found to the Dozer color, may not be right but check it out.

Anyone have any other stuff they made from paracord? Glad this writeup has helped so many people save some cash and be a proud "do it yourself'er"

I've been aching to make something with para cord but I can't come up with anything. So much cord not enough places to cover with it...

Getting ready to make myself some grab handles but started with a glove box handle "bracelet" with a cool green carabiner with compass. This will hold my hat I like to keep handy in case my top is down. Not bad for my first try with paracord. This is fun stuff!

Diggin the steering wheel, but that light colored cord wouldn't last a month on mine. I'm too much of a wrench monkey

Thanks. I used the light paracord to match all of the other stuff I did, looking back I should've used a different color since it's showing a little grime now. My Jeep is Dark Khaki so I thought the light tan color would look good, maybe I'll find another color and redo it.

If anyone else wants to mimic it, you can search for paracord donut on YouTube. It's all one piece of cord, @ 80 ft, after wrapping it was a little loose so I sprayed it with a little water and it tightened up real nice.

Next thing I'll probably do is wrap the handle in front of the passenger seat, I found a cool new video on YouTube search solomon sword grip, it's two tone so it'll go with all the other paracord stuff I've done too.

Lol, I just did some Solomon today. Testing out a few types to use on a knife I'm making out of my old leaf springs. They're completely flat for a good foot or so in the middle, so I didn't even need to anneal it

I use that "donught" to store my paracord, never thought of using it on my steering wheel. Its actually a great place to store extra cord and you can wrap it as many times as you want. very creative thinking, glad you shared! BTW that light color wont last long for sure. I have to change the yellow on my door handles out every few months if I want it to stay looking fresh. Thats the only reason I didnt do my steering wheel to match my oh shiz handle. But black would look just as good for mine I suppose.

Anyone know of a good .... something ... maybe laquer or something to keep the cord from getting really dirty? Scotchguard maybe? Id rather have it flexible and soft than have a really hard laquer steering wheel.

Thanks guys, for pointing out it out, now everytime I get into my Jeep I feel like my steering wheel is getting nastier. You know until the last couple of days I didn't notice, Now I'm going to have to start all over again.

BTW: A good site I found for paracord is http://www.supplycaptain.com

I cheated & went the easy route.....bought them on ebay The seller was extremely helpful & very friendly & I just love the way they turned out! Didn't think the price was bad, either....$25 for the pair with free shipping & he even made me a matching keychain Not the best picture, but the base of them is white (to match my Jeep) & the overlay part is black. These kind attach to the pillar & above the sunvisor so I'm not hitting my head on them everytime I get in.

Find a 1/2 to 3/4" steel bearing or a marble, and make a monkey fist keychain. Its a process, but once you get it, you can easily do Turks head knots, and can put really nice wraps on any handle.

Hey buddy... You could make a hammock out of that much 550 cord. If you have many, many hours of time available to commit.

Btw Lowes and Home Depot both sell them in the hardware section. That's where I acquired mine. Some Lowes and Dome Depots even have paracord in select colors.

I thought Lowes only carried the 100lb break strength. Might be wrong but I dont think it was 550lb.
