PART/TIME 4wd LIGHT?

I love Jeep and this is my 3rd, so i can say i am a loyal jeep fan even though I am not a GURU.
Anyway, today I noticed that the part/time
4WD light did not come on when i engaged into 4H, or any other four wheel drive setting. My First thought was "OH no my 4WD is busted for the coming winter" So i took my 2002 4.0 manual tranny Wrangler SAHARA, for a test in a church parking lot and drove in circles to see if i feel the jerking that happens in 4WD while making tight turns. I was relieved to find or feel that the 4WD is still working. First i checked the fuses. I couldnt find a fuse that was labeled for the 4WD light. The dummy shift light works, and so dont directional, hazards, and that annoying check engine light that is always on! (another topic) So next my attention went to my bulb in the dash. I didnt have time to pull a millenium falcon screw removal job and i figured before i do i should consult the forums. So does anyone have any advice on how to begin a find and fix job for the 4WD light.

Thanks in advance
Jason

I think your on the correct path. Check the t -case/4wd shifter area as I want to say its a wire or switch issue.

not sure on the set up, but I know on my truck I had the same problem, there was a plug in on the front axle that had came unplugged, that sent the signal up to the cab for the 4x4 light.

I believe the signal for the light does come from the CAD on the front axle.
