people trying to tell you about jeeps

Don't you just hate when someone in a stock jeep comes up to you and tries to tell you about jeeps? Example: today at work(Napa auto parts) guy comes up to counter and ask for a marker light bulb. My managers ask if I know it off top of my head. I said 168 or 194 can't remember off hand. Kid says "you dont understand its a jeep thing" I just laugh. He goes you know who's jeep that is out back? I just smile and say " ya its mine" ..blank look... Oh nice...ya I got a winch plate for mine...me: ya might need a winch to go with that..... Pulls over to my jeep snaps a pic and leaves Haha.

Haha yep! Last time my friend was in the car he nearly jumped out of his seat trying to wave to a Jeep liberty. I had to explain only us wrangler folk do that!

I don't get what prompted him to say 'it's a Jeep thing blah blah blah' because you couldn't recall the exact market light bulb number.. Makes absolutely no sense lol

People that say that line rarely do make sense when they say it. it's usually just used as a converstation starter or filler with no real bennifet to anything at all

This thread has disaster written all over it. Oh yeah, last time I checked, a 168 and a 194 were basiclly the same bulb and will work in the same socket.

Me either. However, my reply was directed at the sheer irony of that post.

Agreed!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I wasn't born with an overwhelming knowledge of all things Jeep (and still don't have it). Everyone needs to start somewhere...

My Jeep isn't all modded out, but it's better than stock, and draws its share of comments from other Jeepers, as well as those who wish they were (everyone else )!

If some Newb wants to chat me up, I'm game, as long as I have the time.

Only way for them to learn is thru exposure / experience.

I also wave at all Wranglers, including JK'S, and will return a wave to any Jeeper who offers one.

My .02

How is "knowing about a light bulb" a jeep thing? I don't get the kid's logic or maybe a part of the covo was left out here...

Actually, no. That's one part I really like about owning a Jeep, how perfect strangers can spark up a conversation. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped to get gas and ended up having a 15 minute convo with someone about how they miss their old Jeep... Or how many times I've come out of the store and struck up a convo with another Jeeper in the parking lot. It's just one of the perks of owning a Jeep. If it's not your cup of tea you could always get a Corolla?

That's pretty awesome of you. I love being in the jk and watching the guys in older "more experienced" models not wave. What a waste of a wrangler.

I have no problems talking to any Jeeper or waving at any Jeeper, thou I admit it feels a little wrong to wave at a liberty. People are people if you want to be a elitist go get a Corvette.
