Usually anything over a 1 inch shackle lift is frowned upon. My guess is your stock springs are really flat and worn out both from age and those shackles. Measure from the ground to the tub under the driver door. It should be 18 inches from the factory on factory wheels. I believe they were 28inch tires? maybe 27?. Take that into account when you measure.

What I am getting out here, lets say you have 28 inch tires and you measure 20 inches. That is your two inch lift. You can replace your worn out leaf springs and shocks with a 2 inch lift kit. It won't change your look much (you will sit higher a bit as they break in) and you have new components.

Now, that isn't something that has to be done. But just remember your springs and shocks are probably very old.
