Talking Pinstripe Avoidance! I did it! (this time)

I know, paint and body damage is supposed to be some sort of badge of honor, but that doesn't really work for me. Not yet, anyway -- I just made my fourth payment on it.

So I went out to the Ocala National Forest on Saturday with my group, and we went through some pretty tight trails. Didn't get any photos of the worst parts because I was too busy whimpering quietly under my breath as the branches raked across the body panels...

Some of the others got some scratches, but here's the thing: I went into complete obsessive mode, and applied 4 coats of Maguiar's Tech Wax 2.0, each a day apart, in the 4 days prior to the trail ride. In the end, I didn't get a single scratch anywhere (well, maybe a couple of small ones in the plastic fenders, but I don't mind that).

Just thought I'd share. It was a big deal.

The group thinks I'm close to taking the title of Diva Jeep for the level of care I put into its appearance, but (at least for now) the title remains with the guy that details the engine bay of his TJ in between trips.

Wax does help but trust me, you'll stop that routine. I love that nails-on-chalkboard sound these desert scrubs makes on the Jeep. Music to my ears

Ha! Yeah the black paint on my 99 is not so great so I found it a blast to swerve and hit limbs sticking out and watching my passengers ducking even with the windows up!
