Finally did my wheels!

It only took about 2 1/2 cans of plasti-dip to coat my wheels. What a bargain for a mod! Now I am getting ready to do my entire outside Jeep Body!

I can't comment in how long it takes, but the plastidip is sitting in my room and my wrangler is still in waiting to be built.

I plan on taking mine off as well. Would you mind posting some pics of the process? I know there are some in here already but more could never hurt, right?

Anyway, it seems from the vids that the stuff doesn't take too long to dry. I think if it feels dry, you'll prob be okay to put them on. I'm sure someone who's done it can comment?

Small tip for everyone in cooler climates. If your plastidip was stored in the garage, and the temps were below 60F, bring it into the house the night before so that it is room temperature. Plastidip sprays with clumps if it's too cold.

I remounted my wheels after letting them dry overnight. I live in a cool wet climate though so I feel like to took longer. you could probably mount them 30 minutes after the last coat dries but I waited.

Will do. Just sprayed last coat. Now the hard part; waiting a bit to install them. I wanted to do my trail rated badge and key locks, but didn't feel like washing those areas. lmao.

Here is one wheel. I put about 5 coats on each and 1 additional as a finish coat. Waiting a couple hours to mount them. I used 3 cans and it took about 2 hours. Ill post a pic of them mounted after I wash my jeep. Those are 18" sahara wheels

Just "dipped" my grill. Less than 2 spray cans needed. Quick & easy, but make sure you remove the tape before the paint sets otherwise it will peel away.

Pics of the small amount I did today.
Before

After

Very easy, perfect temp, was around 70, I will probably peel it off and do it again in a few months now that I see how important it it to remove the tape after every spray. You can't see the jagged edge because its hidden but I know its there.

I never took them off. Never needed to. Waste of time actually. As long as you mask off the discs and calipers, plus lug nuts and valve cap, they can stay on. I did all that, then sprayed 1st coat on 1st wheel. Moved to mask 2nd one which took about 10 minutes. Sprayed 2nd wheel, then went back to 1st wheel for second coat. Moved on to mask 3rd wheel. sprayed it, then went back to 1st one for third coat, then 2nd wheel for 2nd coat, etc. until I had 5 coats total. Then I let them dry for about an hour and sprayed one more coat on them all and let sit for another hour. Pulled off the masking and rolled out!

Not the greatest pics, but you get the idea. I'm happy with it. Wife hates it, so mission accomplished!

Not gonna lie dude...I like the paintjob, but don't like the way it looks. Seems odd, the paint just stops, and becomes black. Any particular reason you did those in black rather than keep them body color?

Just always liked the look of the windshield brackets in black. No matter what color Jeep I got (except black of course), I always planned to do the brackets in black.

I also plan on doing the hinges. After doing those, if it seems a little overpowering with all the black, I plan to peel off the windshield brackets.

This one isn't mine, but I have always liked the look.

Anyone used this stuff to cover their sun visor decals that don't come off (I.e. 2011-2012)?

Not that I'm aware of, but that is a very good idea.

Here's an alternative you can customize for 25 bucks or so:
