Just got my black jkr - stopped at home depot on the way home and bought 6 cans of plasti-dip. The wheel rims and stock antenna will be my weekend project!

Hey Mickey, seems like you love the stuff, how long on average does the application last (chips and stuff) and how many coats do you use?

I did like 6 coats n everything I think. It lasts but I took it off roading and scratched up two wheels but just retouched them and they're fine still. Going on a month now so far and still looking good.

Several people have without issue. That is one of the items I have been planning on dipping for a while now. Along with the Trail Rated emblem and door hinges.

I've seen this stuff before and it's great! Has anyone plastidipped (it's a verb now) chrome wheels for the entire winter? I have a set of Cragar Soft 8's and have to switch them out with my old stock wheels as they see a lot of salt brine through the winter...And I hate the way the stock rims look!

How did you do the logo? Did you take it off? Or tape it off.

Logo's are easy.
You tape around the area, spray, then peal off the Plasti dip from the paint. Usually the PD on the logo stays.
They adhesive layer behind the logo tends to form a natural separation.

I believe that the first use of this stuff as far as rims goes was people using it to protect them during the winter from salt.

Anyone used mothers vlr (vinyl leather rubber) for their dipped wheels. I couldn't find aerospace stuff or vynilex so I bought this instead. Haven't used it yet, wanted to see if anyone has anything to say about it.

I did my door hinges and Jeep emblem as well as the trail rated badge today. I'm pretty happy with it.

Lol. Just put the last coat on my emblem. Will do the door hinges next time I pull them off.

Oh, and get back out there and hit those door locks!

Door hinges look good. I'm thinking I'll do that one day this summer when I have nothing to do.

Today I'm doing my grill. Four coats and probably one more to go. I'll hopefully get pics up tonight or tomorrow.
