After it cures it doesnt peel as easy as you think. IT WILL PEEL just not as easy as you think. If your doing a place that you KNOW you will never change your mind on use rustolium bedliner.. I have several parts plasti dip over weeks now no problems if you rub it it leaves a whit mark but hell just spray it again. and if you do use plasti dip use several coats.. if you need additional help let me know

Thanks very much! I do want the inside of the hard top black permanently. I'm not sure why it was white to begin with, nothing on the Jeep has ever been white. lol I appreciate your response.

i think its standard.. Mine is white too. plasti dip IMO is good to see if you like it before you do it for good. The prep is easy and clean up is easier on plasti dip

That was my original intention but I was second guessing it after reading about the plasti-dip. I think I will go with the bedliner.

I did the inside of my Hard Top with Rustoleum Universal Satin Black. Three years later is it looks just as the first day I did it. Very pleased.

I was a tanker for 6 years. I miss it, but I had to change my mos. Always good to see another tanker! I put 5-6 coats on, so looks like I better be careful with it for a few more days. Thanks for the info!

Hi everyone. Plasti-Dippin newbie here with a few questions.

I decided to give Plati-Dip a try on my Spare to see how it turned out and so far I'm not thrilled. I'm sure its something I'm doing wrong so I figured I'd throw up some pics and ask for your opinions and suggestions.

Here is some info to go ahead and answer the questions that I can think of that you might ask:

1) I cleaned the tire and then wiped down the areas to be painted with alcohol to ensure they were nice and clean/dry.
2) I taped off the edges and holes and covered the rubber to prevent overspray.
3) Weather today is partly sunny with temp around 75deg.
4) I shook the can very well.

So far its rather textured and splotchy looking. Do I just suck at spray painting? I did wait the recommended 30min between coats.

I'm wondering if I should have put it on a lot thicker at the beginning instead of going with lighter coats.

Any input or feedback is most welcome.

Thanks

The first couple coats looked weird on mine. Once I hit 3-5 coats it evened out really good. Just make sure youre not too close/far away (6inches) and dont go to slow/fast.. The good thing is you cant F it up. If it looks bad, peel it off.. Mine took 2 days to fully cure as well.. Just stick with your one wheel for now. No sense in waisting material.. Good luck!

Is the textured look normal? Will it just keep getting more textured as I add another coat or two or will it even itself out? I've seen pics of Plasti-Dipped wheels but nobody has posted a close up so I'm not sure what to expect.

Yup, I've been giving it at least 30 min between coats.

This round might be my learning curve. Glad it peels off for the next attempt if I decide to start over

Does anyone have a close up pic of your plasti-dipped wheels you could post so I can make a comparison?

Thanks
