This is cool, I think I'll do this on my stock steel rims on my 3500HD.

If you scrape em up on the rocks it scrapes off... Otherwise its not affected. You simply touch up the affected areas and its good to go

can you post a better pic of how you masked the hood? I've been wanting to do this exact same thing. Almost like the matte overlay that's on the mountain edition.

Yeah I had to get photobucket. And I bought 5 spray cans.... And was left with more than half on one. I did put like 5-6 coats on the wheels tho. 3-4 on flares and like 5-6 on hood.

If u want the corners towards the front to be round-ish... U have to cut several little pieces of tape and put them over each other, but at different angles each so that it creates a round shape and not just a sharp "L" shape. I followed the lines on hood.

^^i don't really know how to explain it, sorry lol^^

Yup, well when it dries it all blends in. And I applied like 5-6 coats if not 7 lol

BUT REMEMBER u HAVE to remove the tape along the edges BEFORE it dries!!!

Otherwise the Plasti dip and the tape will blend together and when u peel the tape off... The Plasti dip will come off. Some of mine did but not that much.

Any reply as to how the hard top holds up with banging around? I'm leaning towards rust oleum bed liner to paint mine.

I just did my wheels this weekend, I use 4 can for all 5 wheels, next time I will use 1 can per wheel. About 3 hour with only one jack then it took me like an hour trying to un-tape all of the tools and sockets that my 5yr old Daugher use to help me while I paint

That looks great, really like the wheels & I am seriously thinking about doing the same.

I see that you said it will pill off if you let it dry on the tape, does that mean that if I spray my wheels and they don't turn out as good I would be able to peel it off, use a sandblaster or power-washer?

No need for any of that. Watch this quick video: Plasti Dip Subaru - YouTube

Yup. Spray a white car black, rob a bank, find an alley, peel it off, then go to the same bank, and make a deposit. No one will be the wiser.
