We touched up our door hinges over the weekend after raking them through tree branches over the past summer. This stuff holds up pretty darn good. The jeep logo on the grill & trail rated badge has required no touch up. Key holes did peel off quickly but I expected that.

Our graphics kits are almost done for Harley and ivy so once we get em I'll be able to decide if we want to do the whole grill or not.

I finally broke down and did some plasti dippin today. I may of gone a little over board for my first time ever using this stuff, there is definitely a learning curve. I'm sure someone that's had a little more time with it or someone that has more patience than me could of done a better job, but it didn't turn out to bad.

I ended up doing the windshield cowl, rockerpanels, and door hinges. I just got my 2.5" lift in today, and I'm waiting 2 weeks till i get my wheel spacers in before i do the wheels.

Before

During

After (I'll get better shot soon)

Ignore the little lights on the front bumper, I had them as rock lights and just moved them there to see how I liked it, and I don't like it...

It was very easy to remove the cowl. There are 2 hex head screws on each side and then 2 push pins that you have to get with the hood up, they are attached to that plastic grill piece, then of course take the wipers off. I honestly don't recommend plasti dipping the cowl with it off though, if i was to do it again i would definitely keep it on. It was just a pain in the ass getting it back on without scratching the dip.

When dippin the wheels, any tips on getting good coverage on the outer edge of the wheel lip where it meets the tire? Index cards don't let you get in there good.

I did my rockers and pinch seam, too. I think it really changes the way it looks from the side. Good job on the cowl!

Nice trick with leaving the tape in there

Ok, someone fill me in....I'm not a big fan of the way this looks, but I see a lot of people do it...is it because you do like the way it looks or does it serve a function of some sort, like protect during offroading or something?

I intended to get 4-5 cans Wednesday, but I missed my chance. I plan on doing my grill, fender flares, windshield light brackets, hinges, mirrors, trail rated badge and jeep logo (maybe), and anything else I can think of. Did my wheels/white lettering on my tires back in July, and it's just now starting to come off the letters. Wheels are knicked in a few places but otherwise holding strong. Now I'm just gonna get the cans and hope for a day its warm enough and I'm not busy so can do some of the above mentioned. I feel like the grill will be the biggest pain.

To people that have done your hinges, did you do the hood and tailgate hinges too, and if so how are they holding up? Pics?

^in the pic I wasn't trying to be artistic, the damn branches wouldn't get out of the shot.

I cant get enough of plastidip

I plastidiped my Saharas rims over a month ago and they are holding up great. I have had just one issue with one wheel with a small tear and it was a simple fix. I just put a little paint thinner on the tear to re-liquify it and spread it around until it was smooth again and then once it was dry, applied a few more coats of dip over the entire wheel and it was good as new. I also dipped my front jeep emblem and even dipped my daystar dash piece to give it some extra grip. My buddy was so impressed by Plastidip that he asked me to dip his front grille which came out great. My rims are just a temporary fix until I get some new 17" ProComp rims, but it still looks great and has held up great with some light wheeling. Plastidip is a great product and it gives you that piece of mind because you cant mess up!!

My son and I plasti-dipped the wheels on his new sport today. Love the results! This is our first post and all the posts on this forum have been extremely helpful. Next up, the leveling kit.

Did you take wheel off?

How many cans and coats?

Yes, we took them off. Used about 3.5 cans for all 5 wheels with about 5 coats. We also did the jeep emblem on front, so the wheels probably would have been closer to 3 cans.

I did my stock wheels a while back and it started to peel around the balancing weight. I pulled some of it off and tried to touch it up but it's happening again.

Anyone else have this problem/know how to fix it? I wiped with alcohol but maybe it needs to be cleaned more?

Alcohol is useless on plastidip. The downside is the inability to clean it well. However, I use the local self-serve car wash and blast it and use the brush and it does pretty good. To answer the issue of peeling, use a rubber glove and some paint thinner or mineral spirits. I learned this method from Fonzi at dipyourcar.com. Here is the video on fixing tears and other stuff. Bookmark it!
