So I have been reading this for days now, am going to get some Plastidip and start with my Blazer lights. Now the way I understand it for prep all I have to do is clean the surface thoroughly and apply. Has anyone done this to chrome lights?

i dont see chrome being an issue, since this stuff was originally made to rubber coat your tools.. and 1/2 my shop, including most of my tools are now Plastidipped,

I sprayed in < 40 degree weather, but in my shop, and leaving the cans in the house between coats, so the paint(plastic, or whatever medium you want to call it) is warm in the can before walking out to the shop. But yes, warmer weather would be ideal.

No offense but I must be alone in hating Plasti-Dip threads, really it's mind numbing....

Perhaps there should be a Plasti-Dip thread, dedicated to Plasti-Dip....

I'm not a fan of Plasti-dip as a whole.

Not sure if you noticed, but this is a 44 page thread. If you hate it so much, why are you wasting your breath and bandwidth complaining about it?

Sure, just make sure you wipe it completely clean with alcohol. Im not sure however, if the clear bra will react with the thinner in the plastidip. I may lose its clarity (turn cloudy.) maybe do a small test section?

How would plastidip handle in really cold environments? Like -30 celcius? Would it crack? I thought about doing my rims but I need something that can handle bad weather. Kinda torn between bedliner or plastidip...

Nope. Had mine in Canada in december....-32, covered in salt, in a blizzard, with ice. Came home, washed it off, good as new. 2 years running now.

Wasting bandwidth? Is it the 80's?

Just saying I'm getting tired of the "I Plasti-dipped my neighbors cat" threads...jeez, must we hear about every possible use for Plasti-dip? Especially when it looks kind of cheesy to begin with.

Hard to believe this stuff could generate so many threads, and a 44 page one to boot...I guess I'll blame winter on numbing the minds of Jeep owners...

Very interested in how this comes out for you. Was thinking about doing this to my metallic green jku on my whole car, and getting black and brown plasti dip. Thinking of making several identical stencils to help do a larger area at once. I need to do my wheels first to get some experience with plasti dip.

I'm another fan of Plasti Dip lol. I just added some angry eyes, did the Jeep emblem. Also did the mesh grille insert, but Plasti Dipped the mesh because I didn't like the silver.

Sorry for the shitty cell phone pic.

Just rub your finger over it, it should come right off.

When did flat black become "cheesy"? This isn't spray chrome!

I will also reiterate that it is odd for you come into the plastidip thread all the time to read about people plastidipping their cats and complain about it. Maybe just don't click on this thread anymore???

I don't see how the dip would have affected your paint at all... unless when you were preppin you used mineral sprites or somethin to that effect.

Were you using anything other than your fingers... sometimes if youand use a towel or cloth the dip kinda smears and looks like scratches but it will come off with some rubbing alcohol.. be light with it though lol... like just a dab on a cloth... and then use the dry side to dry it off..

Wow, ^that is a horrible picture.

Attachment 227065

Here's the one I was trying to hit. The bottom wouldn't be that different, but the top is one big piece for the door and windshield hinge.
