I've seen windex dissolve too many clear plastic surfaces and make them translucent instead of transparent to advise to use the stuff. It doesn't dissolve the surface on the first use but on multiple uses. I've seen it dissolve eye glasses to the point of ruin. Clear plastic windows to the point of not being able to see through them. I have not witnessed this on plastic windows used on soft tops. I didn't want to take that chance on my own jeep soft top windows so I asked a long time jeeper who's windows look almost new at almost 10 years old. He said to use simple dish washing liquid on them inside and out. And to do it often so that grit won't scratch them when you take them off dirty and slide them against eachother. That is the advice that I have been following so far and will continue to follow until my windows turn into something that would indicate that method a failure.

Meguires PlaticX works great for cleaning and removing minor scratches.
Just getting to work is an adventure.
