Pro comp tires

Anybody run pro comp mud terrains? How about the xterrains? Quadratec is have a sale buy 3 get the 4'th free and I was thinking about uping my tire size. The mud terrains I could get in 35" for my rims or 37" in the xterrains.

Any info??

4wheel parts has the same deal I think all the places that sell procomp tires has that deal

but its not as good of deal as one might think they jack the tire price up to compensate for the free tire
when I bought my xterrains a couple of years ago I figured out that I was only saving $50 with the buy 3 get the 4'th free

but the mud terrains chunk out pretty well in the rocks
the xterrains are good offroad I had about 23,000 miles on my xterrains the procomp mt when from one truck to another truck I got around 25,000 out of them

The last two sets of Pro-Comps I've had (both the MT and XTerrian) ran great on the rocks and on the trails. They are a bit loud on the highway but they're an aggressive tire. On the rocks they grip well and hold up to some good abuse. the down side is that both sets wore really weird, cupping really bad (after balancing a bunch of times and alignment checked by different shops). The MT's were unbalanceable and gave me DW. The Xterrains have roughly 20k miles (lots of highway and trail time) on them and they still have lots of tread but again are wearing weird.

For moderate rock crawling and off road use I think the XTerrains are a fine tire. ProComp also makes a tire called the XTC that is more agressive and a softer compound. It will wear much much faster however.

One of the reasons that directional tires cup like they do is because most people only rotate them in the same direction. If you rotate them fully including running them backwards for a period of time they will wear much more evenly.

[hijack] yeah, that's what I was thinking because of the wear pattern on the tires shows that the leading edge of the lugs is wearing faster than the rear of the lugs. Is there any downsides to running the tire backwards on the street? [ /hijack]
