I bought this jeep a few weeks ago, knowing that the top wasn't great. I found 2 broken parts. Could you look at it and tell me how to figure out their names and if I can buy them separately and where)? I know I need a new top in the near future (fabric has a small hole, zippers are not that great anymore) but I was trying to wait until next year. Basically, I would prefer a cheap fix if possible. I attached some pics.
The first 2 pics show the broken plastic part behind the driver's door. The next 2 pics are taken from the passenger side. I guess the last one is self-explanatory;-)
I see you have only a few posts, so WELCOME!... A quick Google search came up with this Jeep Soft Top (OEM) Jeep Wrangler TJ 1997-2006 .... Since it looks like the cheap plastic stuff, pay a visit to a Jeep dealer and point out what you are looking for too.... they can atleast give you a part # to research online
Thank you. I tried the Jeep dealer but they wanted to sell me a new top. I have a guy that would repair it but I need the correct part(s).
Following your link it seems like I need number 11 for the broken part in the 1st 2 pictures, although I am not totally sure. The broken thing in picture 3 and 4 I can't find.
Do a search. It looks like my style of soft top. I have seen hardware kits for the sort tops but not individual parts. And glue will not work sad to say.
You need a Bestop front support bow for one. Try Bestop.com or an authorized Bestop Dealer
Myself I did find a part (1/2 door channel) for mine on E-Bay after a while.
Good luck or buy a new top and all.
My problem is that my hardware does not look like the factory one. Part 11 looks like it is held together with screws but mine is just plastic w/out screws and is moveable w/in the rail. I just sent an email with the pics to Bestop. If anyone's top looks like mine - please let me know the name of the manufacturer and the model.
If I can't figure out which parts to get I'll try to superglue the broken part in pic 1 and 2. Pics 3 and 4 is mainly cosmetic, I unscrewed it, brought it back in its usual plastic holding, and screwed it back together. Still, if it could be repaired it would be better . . . (I'll check on the front support bow.)
Thanks @all who responded for your input.
