Quadratec winch

Hey everyone, i've been wanting to get a winch after a few hairy trips up in the mountains alone. So after much review i kinda fell on the Quadratec Q9000. Does anyone here have one? Whats your thoughts on it? I have a 95 YJ, i would think that a 9K winch should be able to do a decent job for some light duty pulling.

I was looking at its specs in the new quadratec catalog and they look good to me at least when they compaired them with similar winches of other brands. Seems like quadratec has a good reputation to uphold i hope they don't fall short on there winches.

Good to know, it seems worth a shot based on price and the companies rep and history. They have an 11000 blem for 369 Quadratec Exclusive Q11000S-1 - Quadratec Q11000 Self Recovery Winch (Blemished) - Quadratec

Wish I could order one of these. Need to get funds together first. I chuckle at the blems.... I could do worse damage than that on my first run out in the rock.

It's not a rebranded winch. These are made specifically for us.

I can send you a whole new line. I'm not sure how it was frayed out of the box for you. Please PM me your account info and I'll get it taken care of for you.

My neighbor across the street has a Q11000 on his 2011 COD, and he seems pretty happy with it, at least from a price aspect. I'm not sure if he's used it yet, but I'll ask him the next time I see him.

The Q11000 is on my short list along with a Warn VR10000. The almost $200 price difference has me very interested in the Quadratec.

Where is the Quadratec unit made? I'm pretty sure the Warn units are made in the U.S. I'm not familiar with any of the stuff, so I'm the wrong person to ask if one is superior to the other. I just got my first Jeep last night, so I'm pretty green to all this stuff...

If I catch my neighbor outside, I'll ask him about his winch. Last time I saw him he just commented that it was a good price and he felt it was a decent purchase.

That's awesome about the free shipping! I was looking at ordering one of those too but wasn't sure of the reviews. I'm glad I opened this post.

It's made overseas, but not in the usual warehouse where all the "other" brands come from... if that makes sense. Quadratec is using a totally different warehouse.

I'll be ordering one in the next couple of months... the price is perfect for me.

The winches are made over in China. We spent almost a year in developement trying different manufacturers over there and getting what we wanted to be the best bang for the buck from them to us to you. We sourced a very reputable company in the winch industry that had great materials to offer that held up again and again during testing. We also back the winch with a limited lifetime warranty on mechanics and a 1 year warranty on electronics.

Very interested to hear any comments, especially if he's put it to use!

As luck would have it, I got to witness the winch in use when someone backed out of his driveway into a ditch; it was a Pontiac Aztek. I can't be sure but I think the idiot in the Aztek had her foot on the brake as he was trying to pull. He eventually got it out of the ditch but it really juiced his battery. He was using an Optima Red Top.

watching that Video had me gulp a bit .. The guy standing off to the side between the vehicles and the cable in front of him. If that cable had snapped and whipped it could of beheaded him if it hit him in the neck. bad a area to stand...Believe me I worked construction and have seen cables snap apart under stress. And great amount of damage can happen if not injury and death ...Winching can be dangerous
if not done right.. Take care and be aware

Are you referring to the operator or the camera man? We used the ARB winch cable dampener to prevent unwanted backlash incase of a cable break. The cameras we used were hard mounted onto the vehicles, and the only operator had a GoPro camera on a 7 foot extended tube. We took all the precautions necessary to keep everyone as safe as possible while filming.

I have a friend interested in this winch.

What are the "limits" to the lifetime mechanics warranty? Does that mean for the original owner, or does "limited" mean something more?

Hand held remotes and solenoids are parts that seem to see more failures than others. Why only 1 year warranty on these electronic items? Or, did I just answer my own question with the sentence above?

Now that this winch has been out for a few months, have you had any returns or failures?

...and....How does your warranty compare to the other brand/s?

Thanx for any answers.

The warranty would cover all manufacturer defects and breaks. It wouldn't cover the winch breaking due to improper use and/or abuse. Things such as that. We include a booklet inside of the winch that explains the winch warranty in much more detail. Our warranty time frames are the same as Warn winches, limited lifetime on mechanical and 1 year on electronics. It stacks up with the best of the best.

We have not had any returns or failures on either the Q9000 or the Q11000.

We spent almost a year designing this winch and finding the best manufacturer with the best components available and still keep this affordable. It is a very good winch for a very affordable price.

I PM'd Joe after I got mine because the cable came frayed. He said he'd get everything worked out and I just had to call to verify address. When I called to do that someone started quizzing me like I was lying about that it came that way and I needed to send a picture of it first. I took the pic and was gonna email it to him, but then I said F it. I'll wait until I can replace it with rope and not do business there anymore. So, long story short, unspool it when/if you get it and check it really well.

If you already took a pic of it, why not go ahead & email it to them? I would. It's not gonna cost you anything to do that, it might just be their policy. It might also help if it is a production/manufacturing issue. Just my $.02.

I think they wanted to see a picture of it because it was the first anyone had heard of it. We have had customers in the past install winches and go straight to use them without properly respooling the drum. When this is done, it can cause parts of the rope to flatten and fray extremely premature. I apologize if you thought we weren't going to help you out on it! I had everything set up under your account for that to come straight back to me once UPS picked it up. If you still have that picture, please send it over. We won't push you off just because you have a problem!
