Question about installing Harken hoist

Hi,

I'm installing a Harken Hoist to lift my hardtop off my 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. I noticed the instructions call for mounting boards for garages without exposed studs. I'll need to pick up mounting boards, but I noticed that they're supposed to span across at least three studs for added support

My question is: What if my rafters don't span from the front of my garage to the back? I crawled into the attic and the rafters actually go side to side. Not sure how to install mounting boards if that's the case unless I install addition boards that go front to back and then install the mounting boards on top of them.

Anyone else have experience with this and can help me out?

Thanks,
Chris.

Just install them Front to Back. In the instructions they have the both backs on one board and both fronts on the other.

In your example, I would have the left ropes on one board and the rights on the other. If you want either end to be narrower then the other, just mount the boards on a slight angle. so the fronts are wider then the backs.

Does that help?
