Question about windshield channels and tops

I took off my top today to install the new bikini top that the P/O gave me when I bought the YJ. The Bestop that's on it has a flat blade type edge that slips inside the channel but my bikini top has what looks like a T shaped edge. It also has velcro straps to strap it to the roll cage as well as it being wider at the front. Is this top made for my YJ or did he give me the wrong top? He had 3 TJs too. Is there a difference in the channel?

Two different kinds of channels. T shape is for a bikini top, other is for a bikini header top. Top type and channel type must match, I'm not sure about Jeep model.

Yeah the bikini top has the "T" and my soft top has the flat type.. I know it won't work and I knew there were two different channels but I wasn't sure if it was a mistake of year or channel.

If it's a mistake due to year then I may be able to send it back to him and him send me the right one. If he just bought the wrong one then I'll just have to "Jeep" it and make it work. I am NOT buying another channel just for the bikini top.

Get a bikini header top. They're not that expensive. Around $50 I think.

This is what it looks like on the bikini top. If I have to bolt/screw down another track just to use the bikini top then I'll be "adjusting" the top to fit what I have. My Jeep top is not something I'm going to complicate. Simple is best.
