Quick question

Will cutting off my muffler affect my gas mileage?

Probably, and it will sound like a tractor. A wheeling buddy of ours lost his muffler on the trails a month or so ago, and has earned himself the nickname "John Deere", and no one wants to follow him on the trails....

Why would you even want to cut the muffler off?

You can probably find a stock take off pretty cheap. No muffler on a Jeep is just obnoxious.... This coming from someone who drove a V8 with open headers for a year with no complaints. The only reason I changed it was because my husband was afraid he'd get pulled over when he was driving....

Wait, aftermarket exhaust doesn't belong, so you're gonna run none?

I don't get it.

Ight y'all can y'all send me sum icy hot cuz I'm worn out from y'all bashin on me
But however I do not have a problem with aftermarket exhaust systems cuz before my jeep was my Silverado and boy I loved sum good exhaust. But I just don't think loud badass exhaust systems belong on a jeep, I mean let's face it there already badass enough. So my point of cutting the exhaust was to see what it would sound like without a big flowmaster on it but to me seems like it'd sound bad, so I'm going to just wait till I have money to get a stock muffler put in.

I ran my old CJ7 with a 258 with no muffler, and yes it sound like a tractor. If loud isn't what you want, I don't suggest taking the muffler off....

It will defiantly sound worse...and be 100% louder.

Not to mention it's illegal in most every state I can think of.

Good luck man! Hate to see you have to save up for a muffler when that $$$ could by you so much more in mods!
