R&R detroit lockers question

Hello, I'm a sucker. Just bought a 97 TJ and was told it had detroit lockers. due to jumping and skiddind I took it to a dealer to check out. Was told the gearl were welded. What are we talking about to R&R with detroit lockers with a much lower ratio ( to Match the tires ).
