Rain days

Well it's raining again, something I just adore. Especially when you have the top off and it begins to rain. You're driving by the forest/woods and you smell the dirt from the rain and have your favorite song playing bahahaha? Anybody have any rain stories?

Drove up to my friends to go jet-skiing about 30 miles away. No top (stuck at UPS till Tuesday, dang holiday), no doors. My girlfriend riding shotgun says "If it starts to rain, we are pulling over somewhere to hide." It starts sprinkiling and i kept on driving, realizing it wasy raining and didnt care. She looks over at me and says "UGH its raining, are you going to stop." "Nope, im not getting wet." Clearly a lie, my sunglasses had rain on them. So i kept on rollin and it opened up like never before. We finally pulled over about 10 miles from our destination, soaked to the bone, and her extremely pissed. We sat under a gas station while everyone laughed and ask questions. After about an hour of sitting she gets restless and says "iv'e had enough, lets go." So she puts on MY raingear, and says "alright let hit it," im still in my boardshorts and cut-off tee (getting chilly), and i agreed for some reason. 30 miles, no top, no doors, 75mph raining like hell and the temps dropping. Cranked the heater to full blast and shivered my way back home. Stopped and bought her a set of raingear just for her. Never leave home without the safari top. Lesson learned.

Drove home topless/doorless in my first thunderstorm yesterday. It was great. My Daughter thought it was hilarious and waved at everyone we passed.

power was out for 29 hours---90+mph winds-----my rain gauge had .5" but that was over 24 hours---trees down and power MAY NOT be restored til WENS for some people...91° again today...and 100° for Sun. All is fine here for our family...but some people not as fortunate.

We hit an official all time ever record high here of 108.

I took the truck. The outside temp sensor was saying it was 112 coming off the asphalt down the interstate.

It was supposed to be rain free here in Shreveport through Thursday so I took the top off. It started raining out of nowhere yesterday while I was out and about - my first time topless and caught in rain. Not bad really as long I was cruising along. It's weird though turning on the wipers and not getting relief since there are just as many droplets on the inside of the windshield LOL. It was raining here and there this morning but didn't have time to put top on (hard top). So I drove in the sprinkles and put on the car cover when I got to work. Co-workers were making fun of me, calling it a shower cap. I love having a Jeep!!!

Second day driving my new Wrangler Sport (with the top down, of course). Been riding on the sand dunes all afternoon at Saint Louis Pass, Galveston Island. Ten minutes from home, the sky opened for a torrential thunderstorm, raining stair rods. All that my girlfriend and I could do was laugh like maniacs, while getting soaked to the skin. What a wonderfully invigorating experience. I knew I'd done the sensible thing to buy a Jeep.

I was driving home in Boulder Colorado last spring with the top down when it started to pour. Streets flooded - several inches of standing water on them. A car went past me on the left (4 lane road), and the water he kicked up went directly into my face. I had to stick my hand out to block it so I could see and breathe! Good times.

Last July, I had taken my GF and kids to the lake for some fun and I seen the black clouds coming up over the horizon. I told everyone to pack it up and we were heading home on the highway with the top down and the stereo blasting, with the kiddos in the backseat singing with their hands in the air. It began to rain and we were all laughing and driving, my GF was keeping the inside of the windshield dry with a squeegee my son had given me a few days before from a garage sale he went to.

It was an amazing feeling with the rain coming down; driving with music full on. That is when I got smacked across the forehead with something. It felt like a bee sting. Hail. Laughter turned to halfhearted screaming from the backseat as the hail worsened. I spotted a gas station ahead with a good overhang so I pulled off the highway, with my kids holding towels over their heads to deflect the hail.

I got to the overhang and it was packed solid. I counter 3 Hummers (all shiny and perty-fied) and a couple of pick-ups. No one moved to give us a little shelter, no one even tried to help. I got out and my GF helped me get the top up (took less than 30 seconds) and all of us gave those hummers the bird as we pulled away and finished the drive home.

I usually scold my kids for gestures like that, but I felt that one was justified!

Would I do it again? Yes.
