Rattle coming from the bell housing?

My TJ has a rattle when idling. I used a stethoscope and determined the rattle is coming from something inside the bell housing... The clutch works fine and all gears shift fine too. Any ideas?

Mine does that too. Rattle goes away when you push the clutch to the floor. Opposite of a bad throwout bearing (makes noise when you push the clutch to the floor). Everything works fine but I'm curious about the cause.

Drop the starter and the inspection plate and look. I broke a clutch spring in mexico and when it finally fell out, I couldn't disengage the clutch because it kept getting stuck between the plate and disc. What a fun drive that was back to civilization! Tons of whoops and vados without being able to downshift. It's tight but with an inspection mirror you can atleast check the throw out bearing and finger springs to eliminate them. The springs in the disc require you to drop the trans.
