Rattling inside a 2013 JK wrangler

Hey all,

I just bought a 2013 wrangler last month and haven't really done any hard driving on it at all. Every so often when I hit about 65 to 70 on the highway I have what sounds like metal rattling inside underneath the steering column near the gas pedal / brake pedal (and no it isn't the keys in the ignition banging around) Any idea what it could be? Thanks!

Possibly a loose nut behind the wheel?

Hmm, I have this as well. I got underneath the body and dash and seems everything is tight. that is odd though, let us know what you find out.

Pre-dealer troubleshooting:

try sticking your foot under the brake pedal and applying upwards pressure on the pedal (reverse of braking) while it is rattling. See if the noise stops.

There is also a known intermediate shaft rattle that has plagued the JK:

My 11 rubicon had "bad bushings" in the brake pedal. Dealer replaced bushings. Three days later same noise. I don't know what to say except I'm gonna bring it back to dealer.

Update: it ended up being a loose shield underneath the car. Dealer reset the clips and stabilized it.
