Rear bumper resonating sound?

I put my bumper on today. Was getting ready to test fit and weld/bolt the tire lug plate.. when I ran out of smokes. I jumped in the jeep and ran to the store. On the way to there.. I noticed a lot more noise in the cab. I am already getting a deeper sound than normal because I recently put on the hardtop. The hardtop seemed like it's also taking the road noise and etc.. and resonating it through the hardtop. No biggie.. Nothing to sweat but... I just added a whole other level of noise by putting this bumper on. Now it's just way too much. Almost can't hear myself think.

As I'm sure most of you know.. the bumper bolts to the frame and (when closed) rests against the rubber stopper on the tailgate. I imagine it's transferring the noise from the tires, motor, etc.. through the frame, to the bumper, through that rubber stopper and finally.. into the tailgate and so on..

Anybody have a cure for this? It's loud enough to make me consider taking the bumper off. The hardtop increased the depth of the noise but I'm not too picky. The bumper though.. pushed me passed what I want to tolerate. Hopefully.. I'm not alone in this and someone has figured out how to stop, lessen, what ever. I'd really appreciate it!

make some rubber donuts or use some gasket material to put on the mounting points?

I thought of that but the stopper on the door is rubber. Gasket material might help a little between the frame and the bumper but I'm not sure it will even be a noticeable difference when the bolts will sandwich the bumper, gasket and frame when torqued.

I wonder if a softer rubber, on the door stopper will help...?

I do appreciate your suggestions.

I guess I'm the only one? Maybe I did something wrong?
