Rear Seat Belts

The rear seat belt mechanisms are froze up. Need to replace. Does anyone know if maybe these are interchangeable with other mfgr? On a tight budget. Was going to find a set at a salvage yard.

the best places to start are ebay, salvage yards and craigslist. any rear seat belts from a TJ (1997-2006) wrangler will work. what happened to yours to seize them up?

I don't know. I co-signed the note for my son in 2001, and got it back a couple years ago with a broken piston. So it set for a year and a half. Just got the motor rebuilt and back on the road again. I only have $3k invested so I'll drive it. What a trip. Jeeps drive alot different than a F150!!

when i herculined inside my body tub i unbolted the seat belts and let them hang. b/c they were hanging they seized up, but i was able to unseize it. there is a pendulum inside that sometimes gets stuck. what i did to free it up was hit the back of it with a hammer and the pendulum came free. it's worth a shot it the seat belts fubar-ed anyway.

ya, jeeps definitely drive differently that most vehicles. you should try driving a Jeep CJ, it a deathtrap with loose steering and leaf springs....i love it.

Awesome! That's the difference between a CJ/YJ owner and a JK owner right there.

Somethings busted. What are you gonna do?
CJ owner: "smack it with a hammer. Ya Never Know."
TJ owner: "there's a special tool you can buy for that on Ebay."
JK owner: "take it back to the dealer. "

Now that was funny! But oh so true!

The belts in my 95 finally ground to a halt. Used a hammer, plastic and springs flew everywhere, went to my friendly CFC yard and replaced the whole show for 35 bucks.
