Reman Engine Recommendations

After long and careful soul searching I've decided to bite the bullet and just get a reman engine instead of buying a used one and rebuilding it. Can't rebuild mine because it looks like this:

Looking for a long block 258 for a 76 CJ7. I've heard terrible things about autozone, ok things about quadratec, and great things about jasper. I'm looking for a reliable engine and my limit is $2k. Has anybody had any experience with reman engines and if so, how'd it go?

A few years ago I put a Reman in a Cherokee and it never missed a beat. I gave the Jeep to my son and he drove the wheels off it with no problems at all. I got the engine from Autozone and never looked back.

Try Craigslist. Look for a recent wreck being stripped.
