Removal of TJ front bumper

Hey guys , is there anything I should b aware before removing my front bumper. I don't want to pop off my airbags by accident while removing the bumper.

if im not mistaken, the whole bumper sensor for the airbags rumor isn't true. the sensor is actually in the dash, not the bumper. i think we would all have major airbag problems if that was the case.

Yeah no sensors in the bumper. Take the torx bits off, four on top and two underneath, and off she comes. I believe its a T-55 bit

Its pretty straightforward, 3 bolts on each side (2 on top, 1 underneath), 6 total...Not sure what year your TJ is but I definitely recommended hitting those torx bolts with PB blaster or something good for a few days... I did my 97 awhile back and sheared every bolt on the damn thing. Ended up turning into a bigger project than I expected. Good Luck

I replaced the front bumper on my TJ yesterday and didn't have any major issues with it. Or at least nothing some PB Blaster and a long-handled ratchet couldn't handle!

I know this is three years old, but thank you guys for the info. I could not find the right bit size. Mystery solved!! Now time to cry while I discover how badly I've neglected my frame!!
