Replace shifter knob on 2003 Wrangler

Sigh.... I can't figure out how to get the shifter knob off. It's a 2003 Wrangler X, 5 speed manual, with a standard shifter knob. Every post that mentions it does not describe what I have in my Jeep. I want something cooler, coz, by golly, I want it!!

There is a nut under the center 1-2-3-4-5-R cap. I've heard people say you can use a small flat screwdriver to pop it out...I mangled mine getting it out, but it does pop out to reveal a 15mm nut (I believe)

I just switched mine out this past weekend actually. All you have to do is pop off the center cap, like Kevbz said, and then I used a 1/2 inch socket to take mine off. It just unbolts and unscrews off; easy day.

It does take a bit of effort to get the cap off, it's on there pretty good. I used an awl to dig down into the edge and get under the lip, but a flathead will work too.
