I'm more of someone to build or replace something that I know I'd break, before it happens. I like overkill.

I know what you mean. Stuff like tie rods....mine's fine, but I know a Big Daddy tie rod would be a whole heck of alot better.

Depends on the item. Stuff that'll leave me stranded I replace at the first sign of trouble, like a starter. Other items, like a slow coolant leak, etc I tend to be more of a procrastinator on.

If I see something that looks worn, I tend to try and fix it before it becomes a major issue. That is not to say that I have not found things till too late.

I agree with the above... people got on me about always doing preventative maintenance on my vehicle, but you know what? It never left me stranded in the 7 years I owned it either.

Thats the reason I bought a Currie steering system and I only have 32's. I won't be bending it. When I did my 3" lift, I replaced all the control arms... even did the SYE at the same time. Don't like half-assing stuff. Although I still have a D35, that's my only weakness.

I have replaced steering, armored diffs... and I've never seen a trail.

I'm being pro-active I suppose.

I guess if you have the money it's probably best to upgrade stuff first and maybe keep the old stuff as spare parts. If you wait till it breaks, you don't have much choice - but you do have a great reason!
