replacing leaf springs, why remove tires?

I am finally going to replace my leaf springs and shackles! i am curious as to why I would have to remove the tires?! everything I read says to remove em!! why?

less weight hanging on the axle would make it easier to realign the bolts

you're going to support the frame, then drop the axle and support it with stands, yes?

way easier to access everything with the tires off. plus less chance the axle is going to move around on you.
