Road trip mpg's

Right now I'm on the first 1/3 of my road trip from NAS Lemoore California to Indiana. I'm pretty excited because on my 2nd fill up I'm averaging 17.6 mpg. I've got a pretty average 03 TJ. 4" lift, 33" A/T'd and 3.73's. I'm keeping my rpm right around 1800 and trekking through the Mojave as we speak. Never ever have I topped 16mpg

Thanks! Update: 152 miles between Tehachapi and Baker Ca. My two fill ups. Took 7.6 gallons to top off... Now correct me if my iphones calc is wrong but that comes out to 20 mpg. I've been cruising at 55-58 mph on mostly flat land through the mojave. Something seems wrong. Way wrong.

Well your millage will be off unless you changed to speedo gear/sensor because of the 33" tire size. I used to get up to 24mpg stock but once the fuel blend changed it went way down hill from there. Good luck on keeping the millage up through the mountains and have a safe trip.
I know a lot of things, most of them are only correct in my own head...
Better to be judged by twelve then carried by six. I'm sure this is going to get me in trouble down the line

I've been using towns i fill up in as my reference lol trust me my speedo definitely isn't reading correctly. I'm about an hour outside of moab and my economy has stayed relatively the same nusing it through the mountains. I failed to mention I've been using as little ethanol blend fuel as possible. My last fill up was in Salina utah at the Sinclair and I've gone 140 miles without hitting the half tank mark. Heres to hitting denver by nightfall!!
