Roll Bar Padding fading

The protective pads that cover the roll bar on my 2006 LJ Rubicon faded a lot this summer. (The great weather had me riding without doors or top for months on end) Is there anything that I can do short of replacing the covers to get it back to black? Is there anything I should have done to prevent it, or should do to prevent it from getting any worse?

I heard someone say a few weeks ago, that the covers are made of nylon which is a plastic, so Krylon Fusion works wonders on them.

I don't know first hand, so don't blame me if the stuff dissolves it on contact. You might want to research that option, and let us know how it works.

Mine are faded too along with a lot of others. Some members on here say you can paint the covers with Krylon fusion paint. I am content to leave them alone or get new ones down the road.

Depending on what the covers are made of... (mine are different from yours I think) Duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye should work very well on them. I'm going to do mine some day, when I work up the ambition to remove them....

Google color glo and find a rep in your area and see If he will do it. My family owns a franchise and the products are amazing.

Take them off put on a smittybilt cargo net this is it before I put on the full safari top front to back. I love it and it hides the rollbars and protects them. But I dont have my back seats in so if your driving people around paddin is prob smart .I put my spare and tool box in the back
