Rubicon (New vs used question)

I've just starting shopping for a Jeep and I was hoping to get some advice from the pros. I'm looking at an unlimited Rubicon and trying to decide between buying one used (2012 or 2013) or new. My question is whether or not he 2012/2013 models ave had any known issues? Reason I ask, sometimes when companies produc new engines there's ome initial bug to work out? Was this th case with the new engine released in 2012 o is there no real difference?

Thank you in advance for any advice or info you cn share.

The earlier '12 seem to have had more Pentastar issues. The Rubi holds its value so well you might be able to negotiate a new equivalent Rubi down to $1-2K of the price of the used one. At that point youth is your friend.

Thanks, what types of issues? For ~$2k it's a much easier decision. I haven't really tried to negotiate the price much on a new one, but the difference seemed o be more like $8-10k at first look.

The '12 was the first year for the new engines. There were some bugs well documented here when it initially came out. I would go for the '13 and in fact that's the model year I own.

Some 2012 have Cylinder head and water pump issues, so I would purchase a 2013!

For that much difference the '12 is definitely a good option with the caveats listed by others.
