Rustproofing a receiver?

Alright guys, it never fails. You take excellent care of your jeep, wash the salt off constantly and faithfully touch up every scratch, you can keep your jeep rust free for a decade... My question or challenge, is how in the heck do you keep a receiver hitch from rusting? Every vehicle I've ever owned, it seems like 2 or 3 years into you start seeing some rust on the receiver.

I recently bought a new JKU and I'm determined not to be dragging around a hunk of rust on my back bumper. (My XJ's rusted so bad I couldn't even use it) A lot of them say they are powder coated and list a bunch of BS about how rust resistant they are, I don't believe it =) Does anyone have any tips for keeping it looking nice? I was thinking about touching mine up with some spray paint before I actually install it, but I'd like to hear what other people have done.

Por 15 or chassis saver might last awhile.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the POR15 on it. I was thinking about painting it red to match the color of my jeep... I don't think I've ever seen anyone match their receiver to their body.

I'll post pics when I finish!
